Communication from The First National Bank of Vernon, California, submitting bid on rate of interest to be paid by bank for 0' it.y funds, was read. Bid was one-half per cent per annum on active deposits and ClIlne per cent per annum on inactive deposits, bid based on deposits not in excess of $25,000 average da.ily baluce. It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Pera1..ta, that the communication be received, acaepted, and the bank illStructed to submit contract. Motion carried. Communication fram American Liquid Gas Corporation, requesting permission to install.. on premises of various trans- por'tat1on companies portable tanks for storing liquified petroleum gas, was read. It waa:moved by Durbin, seconded by Pera.1ta, that the same be r.eferred to the Fire Chief for investigation and report. Motion carried. It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peral.ta, that the communication be filed and permit granted. Motion carried. Communication from Fletcher Oil Company, r-equesting permiss.ion to haul r'efuse from the old HerculeS2 pant; a.lso permission to stor'e gasoline in certain tanks and crude oil in others mentioned in said communication, was r'ead. Communication from Hercules Foundries Inc., request- ing permission to dig up a tank 5 feet. in diameter a.nd 8 feet ~ong, which is buried beneath sidewalk at :Boyle and Slauson A:'1enue, was read. It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that the communicat.ion be fi~ed and permit granted providing the excavst- iDg is done under the superVision of the Cit.y Engineer. Motion carried. .... ORDINANCE NO. 486, an ordinance or'der ing that a cer.- tain portion of East. 50t.h street. in the city of Vernon be closed up, vacated and abandoned, was r'ead for second reading. It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that Qrdinanee No. 486 be passed for second reading. Motion carried. ORDINANCE NO. 486, an ordinance ordering that a cer- tain p.ort ion of East 50th Street in the city of Vernon be closed up, vacated and abandoned, was read for third and final re.ading. ORDINANCE NO. 487, an ordinance relating to the care and expenditure of moneys received from the State of California under the provisions of Article 5, Chapter 1, Division I of the Streets and Highways Code, was read for third and final reading. It was moved by peralta, seconded by Durbin, that Ordinance No. 487 be adopted.
