The meeting was called to order by the Mayor,
J. J. Furlong.
Councilmen present: Furlong, Leonis, Durbin, Peralta
Councilmen absent: Levy
! It was moved by Peralta, seconded by Durbin, that
the reading of the Minutes of the previous meeting be dis-
pensed with. Motion carried.
C01l'.ltIIUnication, with copy of Resolution attached,
by Board of Supervisors, authorizing an appropriation of
$5000.00 from Special Road Improvement Fund, for improve-
ment of Fruitland Road and other streets in the city of
Vernon, was read.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by,Durbin, that
the same befl~ed. Motion carried.

Circular letter from Mayor Frank H. Dobson, of
Culver City, regarding meeting of Los Angeles County League
of Municipalities to be held at Sebastians Cotton Club,
Culver City, October 17, 1935, was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that
the same be filed. Motion carried.
Conmnmication from Commercial Sand Bl~st Company,
requesting permit to dump dirt, rock and bricks for fill on
property recently aCq:L ired on south side of 26th street on
the west bank of Los Angeles River, was read.
It was moved by Leonis"seconded by Durbin, that
the conmnmication be filed and permit granted. Motion' car-
%lied.
Communication from Joseph Mesmer, with copy of
letter from R. T. Dorsey, Traffic Engineer for the city of
Los Angeles, attached, regarding stop signs at 38th Street
and Alameda Street, was read.
It was moved by Peralta, seconded by Durbin, tthat
the same be filed. Motion carried.
Communication from Foamite Inspector, H. H. Isaacs,
on application of Pi co Oil Company, was read.
It was moved by Peralta, seconded by Durbin, that
the report be referred to the Fire Chief. Motion carried.

Communication from Pico Oil C01,l1paay, stating that
arrange.ents have been made with Los Angeles Refining Com-
panyand Hubert F. Laughranj Trustee for Hercules Refining
Company, for the lease of their plant which will be t uen
over on November 1, 1935, was read.
It was moved by Peralta, seconded by Durbin, that
the same be referred to the Fire Chief. Motion carried.
Report of the Fire Chief on communication from
American Liquid Gas Corporation for permission to install
tanks at various transportation companies, was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Leonis,
that the communication be filed and the permit denied,
as in violation of Ordinance No. 417. Motion carried.
Communication fram Caswell & Company, fo~ license
to conduct a foundry supply business at 2357 East Slauson
Avenue, was read.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that
the communication be filed and permit granted. Motion car-
ried.
Communication from R & S Calf Co., forpermi t to
conduct a business at 2501 East Vernon Avenu.e, was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Leonis, that
the communication be filed and permit granted. Motion car-
ried.
Comnnmication from Parkes B. Churchill, for
license to sell ice cream and hot tamales at National Brass
Works on East 25th Street, was read.
It was moved by Leonis) seconded by ~bin, that
the same beref'erred to the Poliee Department . '!lotion

It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta,

Report of the Police Department was read.
It was moved by Peralta, seconded by Durb~, that
the report be f'iled. Motion carried.
The following applications, all having the approval
of the City Engineer, were read:

Shed over boiler at 2317 East 38th Street. Approximate cost
$150.00.
~plication 4607: of Federal Refrigeration Company, for per-
~ to construe~ garage at 4224 District Boulevard. Approxi-
mate cost $900.00.
A~lication 4608: of Vernon Potteries, for permit to make
addition to office at 2300 East 52nd Street. Approximate
cost $400.00.
Application 4609: of Citizens National Trust & Savings Bank,
tor permit to erect two 6' .x10' signs at the northwest corner
of' Soto and Fruitland Road, and 50th and Soto Streets. Ap-
proximate cost'$25.00.

It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Leonis, that
the applications be filed and permits granted. Motion carried.
RESOLUTION NO. 770, a resolution approvingths ex-
pendi ture of' $32,,201.16, e xpendi tures made during the ,.ear
ending lIIune 30, 1935, fromr evenues co11ected from Light &
Power Department of' the City of Vernon, was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Pera1ta, that
Resolution No. 770 be adopted. Motion carried.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that
the City Clerk be instructed to a dvertise for bids for the
furnishing and delivering of Diesel fuel oil, under Specifiea-
tions No. 82. Motion carried.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that the
demands be allowed and warrants drawn for the same. Motion
carried.
