The meeting was ealled to order by t he :Mayor,
J. J. Fttrlong.
Couneilmen present: Furlong, Leonis, Durbin, Peralta
Couneilmen absent: Levy
It was moved. by Durbin, seeonded by Peralta, that
the reading of the Minutes of the previous meeting be dis-
pensed with. Motion 'carried.
Communication from Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe
Railway Company, for a renewal of spur traek franchise, .
Ordinance No. 155, adopted April 6, 1915, for spur track
aeross the north half of 52nd Street, was read.
It was moved by Leonis, seeonded by Dllrbin, that
the e01lltl1\U11cation be filed. Motion carried.
ORDINANCE NO. 491, an ordinanee granting to
Atchison, Topeka and. Santa Fe Railway Company a spur traek
franchise aeross a portion of 52nd Street, was read for
first reading.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that
ORDINANCEjNO. 491 bepaased f(f.)r first reading. Motion earried.
Communieation'from Atehison, Topeka and Santa Fe
Railway Company, for a renewal of spur traek franehise,
Ordinance No. 82, adopted JUne 18, 1912, for spur track
across Santa Fe Avenue near 49th Street, and across 49th
Street, was read.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that
the commnnication be filed. Motion carried.
ORDINANCE NO. 492, an ordinanoe granting to
Atohison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company a spur track
franehise across Sanba<"Fe <Avenue near 49th street, and
across 49th Street, was read for first reading.
It wS.s moved by Leonis, seeonded by Durbin, that
ORDINANCE NO. 4:92 be passed for first reading. Motion carried.
Communication from National Cylinder Gas Company,
for permit to conduct business at 4950 Santa Fe Avenue, was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seeonded by Peralta, that
the communieation be f11ed and permit granted. Motion carried.

It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that
the eommunication be filed and permit granted. Motion carried.

Communication from Zenith Foundry Sand Supply Co.,
for permit to conduct business of foundry sand, limestone
rock, coke, blacksmith coal, etc., at 2335 East 38th Street,
was read.
It was moved b~ Peralta, seconded b~ Durbin, that
the communication be filed and permit granted.. Motion carried.
Communication !'rom C. H. Fromme, District Manager
of Tnemec Co. Inc., for permit to conductbusinesa ot weather
proof coatings! manufactured b~ Inemec Compan7, Kansas City,
Missouri, at 3049 Santa Fe Avenue, was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that
the communication be filed and permit granted. Motion carried.
Communication from M. I. Smith, for permit to con-
duct business of wood. working shop at 2001 East 51st Street,
was read.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that the
communication be filed and. permit granted. Motion carried.
Communications from York Ice Machine Co. and Boyle
Manufac turing Co., for permits to haul refuse from thei;r
premises upon and along the public streets of the city of
Vernon, were read.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Peralta, that the
communications be filed and permits granted. Motion carried.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that
the Treasurer be authorized and instructed to transfer from
the Light & Power Fund to the Light & Power Construction Fund
the sum of $15!OOO.OO, said transterbeing approved by the
Water & Power Uommittee. Motion carried.
RESOLUTION NO. 781, a Resolution instructing the
City Clerk to demand possession of the old City Hall at the
expiration of the leas. now held b~ the Post Office Department
of the United States, was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that
RESOLUTION NO. 781 be adopted. Motion carried. .
Communication from the Police Department regarding
various packing plants discharging an acid water into East
Vernon Avenue and dAmaging automobiles, was read.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin,tha t the
same be referred to the Police Department for investigation
and report. Motion carried.
Report of the Police Department was read.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that the
same be filed. Motion carried.
Minutes of the meeting of the Water & Power Committee
of March 17, 1936, were read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that
the same be filed. Motion carried.
The following applications, all having the approval
of the City Engineer, were read:

demands be allowed and warrants drawn for the same. Motion
carried.
