:MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON,
HELD TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 1936, AT
THREE O'CLOCK P. M., AT THE CITY HALL
OF THE CITY OF VERNON, 4305 SANTA FE,
AVENUE, VERNON, CALIFORNIA.

Councilmen present: Leonis, Durbin, Levy, Peralta
Councilmen absent: Furlong
In the absence of theChairmiul, the meeting was
called to order by the City Clerk, T.J. Furlong, who
declared nominations were in order for Chairman pro tem
of the meeting.
It was moved by'Durbin, secoilded by Peralta, that '
Counci~. Leonis act as Chairman pro tam. Motion c:arried.
Mr. Leonis then called the meeting to order.
It was moved by Levy, seconded by Peralta, that
the reading of'the MInutes of the previous meeting be
dispensed with. Motion carried.
Communication from Simmons Brick Company was read.
It was moved bY Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that
the :Same be referred to the Committee of the Whole. Motion
carried., "

Angeles, 'regarding disposal ,of sewage in East 51st Street,
was read.
It was moved by Levy', seconded 'by Durbin, that the
Clerknotlf'y the Globe Mills of the request of'the City of
Los Angeles for their information and guidance. Motion
car~ied.
. Circular letter froniPaclfic Coast. Fisheries' In-
stitute, regarding sardine reduction plant, was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by ~vy, that
the same be filed. Motion carried.
Communication from CitY'Engineer regarding the pro-
posed widening of Vernon Avenue, between Alameda and Santa
Fe Avenue, was read.
,It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that
the same be filed. Motion carried.
. At this time Councilman Durbin introduced RESOLUTION
NO. 828,apPrOvingpla.ns a:rid:speci.f1cations for the widening
of Vernon Avenue between Alameda Street and Santa Fe Avenue.
It was moved bY Levy, seconded by Peralta, that
RESOLUTION NO. 828 be adopted. Motion carried.
Councilman Durbih then introduced RESOLUTION NO.
829, authorizing the C1 ty Clerk to sign a contract in the

name of the City withtne Department of Public Works of
the State of California.
It was moved by DUrbin, seconded by Levy, that
RESOLUTION NO. 829 be adopted., M?tion carried.
Communication from T. M. MCComb, power plant
engineer, recolnInendlng acceptance of centrifuge from
Sharples Specialty Co. on Specifications No. 86, was read.
It was moved by DUrbin, seconded by Peralta, that
the communication be filed and the recommendation concurred in.
Motion carried.
Communication from T. M. McComb, power plant
engineer, recommending acceptance of centrifuge No~ 6 from'
Sharples Specialty Co. on Specifications No. 86~, was read.

the communication be filed and the recommendation concurred

publio streets of the City of Vernon, were read.

communications be filed and permits granted. Motion carried.
Report of the Police Department was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seoonded by Levy, that the
same be filed. Motion carried.
RESOLUTION NO. 830, approving Specifications No.
98 was read.
It was moved by DUrbin, seconded by Peralta, that
RESa&UTION NO. 830 be adopted. Motion carried.
