CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON,
HELD TUESDAY, DECEMBER 1, 1936, AT
THREE O'CLOCK P. M., AT THE CITY
HALL OF THE CITY OF VERNON, 4305

The meeting Vias called to order by the Mayor,
J. J. Furlong.
Councilmen present: FuJ:olong, Leonis, Durbin,
Levy, Peralta
Councilmen absent: None
It Vias moved byuDurbiri, seconded by Peralta, that
the reading' of the M11'l;u.tesot the previous meeting be dis-
pensed with. Motion carried.
Ae this time the Clerk announced that he had on
his desk bids for deep Vlell water pump.
It was moved by Durbiri, seconded by Levy, that the
Clerk open the bids. Motion carried.
The Clerk opened bids from the following firms:

bids be referred to the Engineer for checking and report.
Motion carried.
At this t1Jne the Clerk announced that he. had on
his desk bids for the construction of a 25,000 barrel water
tank.
It was moved by LeV'! ,seconded by' Durbin, that the
Clerk open the bids. Motion carried.
The Clerk opened bids from the following firms:

It was moved by' Peralta, seconded by Durbin, that
the bids be referred to the Engineer for checking and report.

Department, . requesting extension of agreement on old city
ball property 1'01" post office purposes for period from
October 20th to November 4th, 1936, was read.

regarding in.stallation of traf'fic signals at 38th and Alameda
Streets, was read.
It was moved by Leoms ~ seconded by Levy, that the
same beref'erred to the Water & Power Committee~ City Attorney,
and Chief of' Police. Motion carried.
Communication f'romW~ N. JOhnson, Electrical Engineer~
with request of'Sotl.thern California Telephone Co. attached,
requesting permission to attach certain lines to power poles
within the city~ was read.

both commUnications be filed and permission be granted to
the Southern California Telephone Company to attach wires
to City poles. Motion carried.

was read.

It VIas moved by Levt, seconded by Peralta, that
the same be filed. Motion carried.

had been approved by the City Engineer.
It was moved by DUrbin, seconded by Peralta~ that

the matter be referred to the Finance Committee with power

Recommendation of H. A. Thallmer, Citr Engineer,
toac~ept storm drain workcompl&ted'bYlti-ke Radich and C. T.
Brown, and the payment of $9354.00, which represents 50 per
cent payment to be made on acceptance, was read.
It was moved by DUrbin, seoonded .b7Peralta ,that
the recormnendation of the City Engineer be concurred in and
that the City accept the storm drain work as completed. Mo-
tion carried.
RESOLUTION NO. 832, deolarIng the prevailing rate
per diem wa.ges for labor to beusedi1lthe wideidng of;Vernon
Avenue between Alam.ads. Street and Santa Fe Avenue, under
Specifications Nos. 9, 10 and 20~ and Plan No. 429~ was raad.
It was moved bY-Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that

the demands be allowed and warrants drawn for same. Motion
carried.
Report of the Police Department was read.
