MINUTES OF AN ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING
OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON, HELD TUESDAY, DECEMBER 22, 1936,
AT THREE O'CLOCK P. M., AT THE CITY HALL
OF THE CITY OF VERNON, 4305 SANTA FE
AVENUE, VERNON, CALIFORNIA

The meeting was called to order by the Mayor, J. J.
Furlong .
Councilmen present: FUrlong, Leonis, Durbin, Peralta
Councilmen absent: Levy
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that
the reading' of the Minutes of the previous meeting be dis-
pensed with. Motion carried.

regarding water service and fire protection on Magnolia
Avenue, was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that
the City.Engineer be instrti.ctedto submit estimates as to
the cost 0 r such work. Motion carried.
Communication from the City Engineer, regarding an
8" water line and fire hydrants in East 50th Street, now
vacated, was read.
It was moved bY' Durbin, secorided by Peralta, that
thesa:me be referred to the Water & Power Committee. Motion
carried.
Com.tM.:ln1catioh' fro:m Slinons Bric~ Company, regarding
groutlock br1c~ masonry, was read.
It was moved by Durbin, secorided by Peralta, that
the same be referred to the Water & Power Committee. Motion
carried.
Easement executed by Whiting_Mead Co., for pipe
line across its property, was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that
be matter be laid over to the next regular meeting. Motion
carried.
Communication from H. A. Thalimer, City Engineer,
regarding Downey Road storm drain was read, which matter
was laid over from the meeting of December 15th to this
date.
It Vias moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that
the recommeridation of the City Engineer in reference to the
Downey Road stor.m drain be approved. Motion carried.
At-this time Councilman DUrbin introduced Resolu-
tion No. 837, appropriating $23,102.00. rrom the General
Fund to the Downey Aven~. Storm Drain Fund, am moved its
adoption, which was secorided by Peral.ta, and carried.

At-this time Councilman DUrbin introduced Resolu-
tion No. 838, appropriating $21,000.00 from the Water Fund
to the Water Construction Fund, and moved its adoption,
which was secorided by Peralta, and carried.

ORDINANCE NO. 499, ahOrdinance &mending Ordinance No. 451
was read for second reading.
It was moved bY Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that
Ordinance No. 499 be passed for second reading. Motion
carried.
ORDINANCE NO. 499, an Ordi1lSJlce amending Ordinance No. 451
was read for third and final reading.
It 'was moved by Durbin,. secorided by PeraIta, that
Ordinance No. 499 be adopted. Motion carried by the following

CommUIlication from Kuder Orange Meal Co., request-
ing permit to haul refuse from premises at 2501 East 26th
Street, was read.
It was moved by Dtirbih,seconded by " Peralta, that
the communication be filed and permit granted. Motion carried.

read.

the recommendation of the Chief Electrical Engineer be approved.
