COUIlcilmen present: Furlong, Leonis, Peralta, Levy Councilmen absentt Durbin It was moved by Levy ,seconded by Peralta, that the reading of the :Minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed with. Motion carried. The Clerk then opened and public declared bids for pump and electric motors from the following firms: Paciric Enterprise Products Pacific Pump Company Fairbanks, Morse & Company Smith Booth Usher Co. Gardrier~Deriver Company BjronJa.cksoIl Company De Laval Steam Turbine Co. Co. It "as l!1oved by Leonis, seconded by Levy, that 'all bids be referred to the Engineer for checking and report. Motion carried. The Clerk then opened and read bids for the con- struction of a pump house from the following firms: Contracting Engineers, Inc. Hoa.glandEngineering& Construction Co. Richards-Neustadt Construction Co. Bjorling Construction Co. It was moved by Leonis,secorded by Peralta, that all bids be referred to the Engineer for checking and report. Motion carried. The Clerk then opened and read bids for the paving of Vernon Avenue from the following firms: 2~)G Griffith Company Oswald Bros. L. A. Paving Company Vernon Paving Company It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Peralta, that the bids be referred to the Engineer for checking and report. Motion carried. Communication fram Morris McLaughlin; attorney for the California Boiler and Tank Works, regarding application for permit to oper~te at 2149 East 37th street, was read. It was moved by Levy, seconded by Peralta, that the matter be referred to the next meeting. Motion carried. Communication from Rok-Hesive Distributing Co., regarding street and highway markers, was read. It was moved by Peralta, seconded by Levy, that the same be filed. Motion carried. Communication fram Joseph Mesmer, regarding traffic signals at 38th and Alameda Street, was read. It was moved by Peral ta, seconded by Levy, that the same be referred to the next meeting. Motion carried. Communication frOl11 General Petroleum Corp., regard- ing assi~ents<aDdbondscon Franchise Erdinances Nos. 152, 80, 393 and 450, was read. It was moved by Levy, seconded by Peralta, that the assignments be approved and the bonds be approved subject to the approval of the City Attorney. Motion carried. Report ofB. A. Moeller and J. Artale, Fire Chief, on application of Henry Asphalt Co., 3463 East 26th street, was read. It was moved by Levy, seconded by Peralta, that the reports be riled and permits granted. Motion carried. Communications from the following firms for permits to haul refuse upon and along the streets of the City of Vernon were read: West Coast Manchester Mills Penbe rthy Lumber Co. Abegg & Reinhold Co. Itwas moved by Levy, seconded bye Peralta, that the communications be filed and pennita granted. Motion carried. Report of Union> Oil Company on Los Angeles County Franchise 596 NS was read. Motion carried. 'Demands on the General Fund in the sum of' $14,667.89 were read. It was moved by Le'Vy', seconded by Peralta, that the demands be allowed and warrants drawn. Motion carried.
