The meeting was called to order by the Mayor, J. J.
Councilmen present: Furlong, Leonis, Durbin, Levy,
Peralta
Councilmen absent: None
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that the
reading of the Minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed
with. Motion carried.
Communication from Petroleum Equipment Co., regard;"
ing parking conditions in the vicinity'of their plant located
at 2800 South Alameda Street, was read.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that the
communication be filed and referred to the Police Department
for report. Motion carried.
Communication fr<?m. Petrol Corporation, requesting
permission to store crude oil, full oil and gasoline on prem-
ises formerly occupied by HerculEJs RefiI1ingCompany on East
30th Street, was read.

questing permission to burn old bunkers formerly used by
Relianoe Rock Company on East 25th Street, was read.

Ci~cular letter from the office of the County Tax
Collector advising that all delinquent 1911 'street assess-
ments must be report to the County Tax Collector so that
mtatc1.emmay be made on tax bills, was read.
It was moved.by'Durbin, seconded'by Peralta, that
the communication be fi1ed. Motion carried.
Report of Southern California Gas Company on
Franchise Ordinance No. 361, together with check in the sum
of $1.06, was read.
It was moved by Levy, seconded by Peralta, that .
the same be referred to the Finance Committee. Motion carried.

Engineer, for Works Progress Administration, request1ag per-
mit to move debris from premises of 3690 Santa Fe Avenue,
was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that
the ~ommunication be filed and the permit granted. Motion
carried.

Committee, regarding plans to secure location of Tra.de .
Exposition site in Harbor District in South Los Angeles, was
read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that
the same be filed. Motion carried.

Street, reqilesting permit to sell box lunches, buttermilk and
soda pop from car, in city, was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta., that
the same be referred to the Police Department for report.
Motion carried.
Report of the Police Department was read.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Levy, that the
same be filed. Motion carried.
RESOLUTION NO. 872, a resolution authorizing the execution
of a'certain agreement with Southern California Edison Company
Ltd., for joint use of poles, was read.
It was moved by LevY, seconded by Leonie, that
RESOE.UTION NO. 872 be adopted. Motion carried.
At this time the Light & Power Department auditor
filed a report of the employees that left the City to go
wi th Southern California Edison Company, ~td.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Levy, that the
report be filed and copied in the Minutes. Motion carried.

RESOLUTION NO. 873, a resolution approving Supple-~
mental Agreement with Southern California Edison Company~d.
was read.
It was .oved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that
RESO~UTION NO. 873 be adopted. Motion carried.
CanmunicatiOn from the City Engineer, submitting
Specifications No. 109 for construction of pump house on East
Vernon Avenue, was read.
It was moved"by Leonis, seconded by Levy, that the
communication be filed. Motion carried.
RESOLUTION NO~ 874, a resolution approving Specifica-
tions No. 109, was read.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that
RES~UTION NO. 874 be adopted. Motion carried.
RESOLUTION NO. 875, a resolution declaring the prevail-
ing rate per diem wages under Specifications No. 10~was read.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that
RESOLUTION NO. 875 be adopted. Motion carried.
RESOLU'I'ION.NO. 876, a resolution of the City Council
transferring $22,OOO.OO-from the Water General Fund to the
Water Construction Fund, was read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that
RESOLUTION NO. 876 be adopted. Motion carried.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that the
Clerk be instructed to advertise for bids for construction of a
pump house on"East Vernon Avenue, in accordance with Specifica-
tions No. 109. Motion carried.
"Minutes of the meeting: of the Water and Power Committee
of July 6, 1937, were read.
It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta, that the
same be filed. Motion carried.

Application 5405: of S. E. Perkins~ for-permit to jack electric
conduit under 55th Street, was read. '..
It was moved by Levy, seconded by Leonis, that the same
be referred to the Consulting Electrical Engineer. Motion carried.
The following applications, all having the approval of
the City Engineer, were read:
Application 5402: of Southern California Telephone Company, for
permit to place 2u underground pipe across Vernon Avenue, 48 feet
East of st. Char~es Street.
ARRlicatloh 5403: of Southern California Edison Company Ltd. ~ for
permit to replace pole on 52nd Street .~t of Santa Fe Avenue, in
parking.

constrUct driveway on East side of Santa Fe Avenue 540 feet

It was moved by Durbin, seconded by' Peralta, that
the applications be filed and permits granted. Motion carried.
'Demands on the General Fund in the sum of $17,103.58
were read.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Durbin, that the
demands be allowed and warrants drawn. Motion carried.
