M., AT THE CITY HALL OF THE CITY OF VERNON, 4305.. SANTA FE AVENUE, VERNON, CALIFORNIA. - - - - - - - - - .. - - - - - - - - ~ >..~ The meeting was called to order by the Mayor, J. J. Furlong. Councilmen present: Durbin, Peralta, Furlong, LeoRis Councilmen absent: Levy. It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta that ~he re.d- ing ot the Minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed with. Motion carried. A communication from the Union Pacific Railroad Company" together with an agreement covering storm drain encroachment on San Pedro Branch right-of-way, was read. Councilman Durbin introduced Resolution No. 893, a re801ution approving the agreement and authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute the same and moved its adoption. Seconded by Peralta. Motion Carried. A petition submitted by the Western Cooperage Co. et aI, requesting that Bicket Street be opened and improved trom Union Pacific Railroad tracks north to 54th. Street was read, and"Mr. Wise, of the Pacific Pump Company, requesting the City Council.to approve the petition, was read. 1" It was moved by Durbin, secimdedll by Leonis that the matter be referred to the City Engineer, and he to submit the costs thereof to Mr. Wise and others. Motion carried. A communication from Lane-Wells Company, 5610 S. Soto Street, and Boy Scouts of America Troop 136 for permission to construct a concrete camp fire ring at 5610 S. Soto Street, was read. It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta that same be referred to the Engineer for checking and report. Motion carried. A Circular copy of Resolution adopted by the Board. of Supervisors on September 29th., Los Angeles County, authorizing contribution of funds to various Special Assessment Districts for 1937-1938, .was read. It was moved by Durbin, seconded by Pe~lta that Ordinance No.5ll be passed for the first reading. Motioncarrled. ORDINANCE No. 510, an ordinance regulating the b~81ness of "Used Car Dealers" was read for the second reading. - It .was moved by Durbin, seconded by Peralta that Ordinanoe Nqll 510 be passed for the second reading.
