A communication from A. O. Pierce, 1171 ... Highland Avenue,
Los Angeles, requesting a permit to install an automatic phonogl'apq.at
Cowboy Cafe, 4401 Downey Road, was read.
It was moved by Peralta, seconded by Leonis, that the communi-
cation be filed, and permit granted. Motion carried.
A communic.ation from Alfred Torranc.e stating he his taken over.
the business of C.R. Mays Super Service Station, located at 4895 Pacific
Bl~d, was read.
It was moved by Peralta, seconded by Leonis that the communi-
cation be filed. Motion carried.
At this time the City Attorney suggested that tneCity employ
Charles Kramer to assist the City Attorney in the controversy between
the City of Vernon and the City of Los Angeles.
It was moved by Peralta, seconded by Leonis that the request
of the City Attorney be concurred in, and that Mr. Charles.Kramer be
employed to assist the City Attorney, and he be paid a reasonable com-
pensation for his services. Motion carried.
Communications from the following firms for permits to haul
refuse from their premises upon and along the streets of the City of
Vernon, were read: L. A. Pacific Macaroni Co., 4722 Everett .l'Yenue;
Gem Packing Co., 3811 S. Soto Street; Petroleum Equipment .C.o..,2800 S.
Alameda Street; Universal Shoe Dressing Co., 4949 Everett.A.venue;
and Wilshire Oil Co., 2455 E. 27th Street.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Peralta that the communi-
cations be filed, and permits granted. Motion carried.
The Report of the Police Department'was read.
It was moved by Peralta, seconded by Leonis that same be filed.
Motion carried.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Peralta that permission
be given to the Lane-Wells Company ,5610 S.Soto Street, to b-g.lld a tire
ring upon their premises for the Bo., Scouts of America Troop 136. Motion
carried.
