MINUTES OF AN ADJOURNED REGULAR
MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF VERNON, HELD TUESDAY,
DECEMBER 13, 1938, AT TWO 0' CLOCK
P.M., AT THE CITY HALL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON, 4305 SANTA FE AVENUE,
VERNON, CALIFORNIA.

The meeting was called to order by the Mayor, J. J.
Furlong.
Councilmen present: Furlong, Peralta, Scheider, Leonis
and Levy.
Councilmen absent: None
It was moved by Peralta, seconded by ~onis that the read-
ing of the Minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed with.
Motion carried.
A communication from the City Engineer of the City of
Vernont recommending that the offer of the Peerless Pump Division
of Fooa Machinery Corporation for the fUrnishing of the deep well
turbine pump in accordance with Specifications No. 116, be awarded
the contract, was read.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Peralta that the
communication be filed. Motion carried.
The City Clerk then read Resolution No. 953i, a reso-
lution of the City Council recommending the award of the contract
for the work and improvements described in the Notice for sealed
proposals or bids and Specifications No. 116.
It was moved by Levy, seconded by Peralta that Reso-
lution No. 9531 be adopted. Motion carried by the following vote:
AYES: Furlong, Peralta, Scheider,
Leonis and Levy;
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
The City Clerk then read Resolution No. 954, a Resolution
of the City Council of the City of Vernon awarding the contract for
the work and improvement described in the Notice inviting sealed
proposals or bids and Specifications No. 116.
It was moved by Peralta, seconded by Scheider that Reso-
lution No. 954 be laid on the table until approval is received from
the Regional Dir~ctor of Public Works Administration, as set forth
in Resolution No. 953l. Motion carried.
A communication from the City Engineer, recommending that
Oberg Bros. be awarded the contract for re-placing the reservoir
roof in accordance with Specifications No. 117, was read.
It was moved by Levy, seconded by Peralta that the com-
munication be filed. Motion carried.
Resolution No. 954i, a Resolution of the City Council
of the City of Vernon recommending the award of the contract for

the work and improvements described in the Notice for sealed
proposals or bids and Specifications No. 117, was read.
It was moved by Levy, seconded by Peralta tha~ Resolu-
tion No. 954t be adopted. Motion carried by the following vote:

At this time Mr. Leroy Harris Traveling Engineer for
the Public Works Administration, presented authority from the
Regional Director of the Public Works Administration for the City
to proceed 'in awarding the contract.
At this time Councilman Levy introduced Resolution No.
955, a resolution of the City Council of the City of Vernon a-
warding the contract for the work and improvements described in
Notice inviting sealed proposals or bids and Specifications No.

A communication from the City Engineer, recommending
that Artukovich Brothers be awarded the contract for the construc-
tion of Leonis Blvd. storm drain, was read.
It was moved by Levy, seconded by Peralta that. same be
filed. Motion carried.
Resolution No. 955t, a resolution of the City Council
of the City of Vernon recommending that the award of the contract
for the work and improvements described in the Notice for sealed
proposals or bids and Specifications No. 118, and concurring with
the recommendation of the City Engineer, was read.
It was moved by Levy, seconded by Leonis that Resolu-
tion No. 955t be adopted. Motion carried by the following vote:
AYES: Furlong, Peralta, Scheider,
Leonis and Levy;
NOES: None
ABSENT: None.
At this time Mr. Leroy Harris, Traveling Engineer for
the Public Works Administration, presented authority from the
Regional Director of the Public Works Administration for the City
to proceed in awarding the contract.
At this time Councilman Levy introduced Resolution No.
956, a resolution of the City Council of the City of Vernon award-
ing the contract for the work and improvements described in the
Notice inviting sealed proposals and bids and Specifications No.
118, to Artukovich Brothers.
It was moved by Levy, seconded by Leonie that Resolution
be adopted. Motion carried by the following vote:
AYES: Furlong, Peralta, Scheider,
Leonie and Levy;
NOES: None
ABSENT: None.

A communication from the City Engineer of the City of
Vernon, recommending that Griffith Company be awarded the contract
for the construction of the improvements on E 37th Street, was read.
It was moved by Levy, seconded by Leonis that the communi-
cation of the City Engineer be filed. Motion carried.
Resolution No. 956i, a resolution of the City Council of
the City of Vernon, recommending the award of the contract for the
work and improvements described in the Notice inviting sealed pro-
posals or bids and Specifications No. 119, and the City Engineer's
recommendation, was read.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Scheider that Reso-
lution No. 956i be adopted. Motion carried by the following vote:
AYES: Furlong, Peralta, Scheider,
Leonis and Levyj
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
At this time Mr. Leroy Harris, Traveling Engineer for

Regional Director of the Public Works Administration for the City
to proceed in awarding the contract.
At this time Councilman Levy introduced Resolution No. 957,
a resolution of the City Council of the City of Vernon awarding the
contract for the work and improvements described in the Notice invit-
ing sealed proposals or bids and Specifications 119, to the Griffith
Company.
It was moved by Peralta, seconded by Scheider that Reso-
lution No. 957 be adopted. Motion carried by the following vote:
AYES: Furlong, Peralta, Scheider,
Leonis and Levyj
NOES: None .
ABSENT: None
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Levy that the City
Clerk notify all successful bidders of their awards of the contracts
and to return all certified or cashier's cheeks to the unsuccessful
bidders. Motion carried.
