:MINUTES OF AN ADJOURNED REGULAR MEET-
ING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON, HELD TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 1939,
AT THREE 0' CLOCK P. M., AT THE CITY HALL
OF THE CITY OF VERNON, 4305 SANTA FE
AVENUE, VERNON, CALIFORNIA.

The meeting was called to order by the Mayor, J. J.
Furlong.
Councilmen present: Furlong, Scheider, Peralta
Councilmen absent: Leonis, Levy.
It was moved by Peralta, seconded by Scheider that the
reading of the Minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed with.
Motion carried.
ORDINANCE No. 524, an Ordinance of Intention, entitled
"An Ordinance of Intention of-the City of Vernon Relating to Sewers,
and to a Contract Relating thereto between the Cities of Vernon and
Los Angeles Providing for the Acquisition and Construction of Sewers
and the Acquisition of Rights in the Outfall Sewers and Disposal
Works of the City of Los Angeles, For the Creation of a District
to be taxed and assessed to pay the cost thereof, and to be taxed
and assessed to pay the Annual cost of the Maintenance and Operation
thereof, Determining the Estimated costs, and Providing for Protests
against the formation and extent of such District, the Inclusion of
Lands therein, or the Acquisition of said Rights, or the Cost there-
of, and against said annual charge, and Fixing the date for hearing
said Protests, and Declaring the Intention of said Council to Order
an Election in said District" was read for the second reading.
It was moved by Scheider, seconded by Peralta that Ordin-
ance No. 524 be passed for the second reading. Motion carried.
Ordinance No. 524, an Ordinance of Intent'ion, was read for
the third and final reading.
It was moved by Scheider, second8d by Peralta that Ordin-
ance No. 524 be adopted. Motion carried by the following vote:

A communication from Francis Bates, City Engineer,. regard-
ing an unexpended balance in Leonis Blvd. Storm Drain, and request-
ing authority to file amendatory application with P.W.A., request-
ing re-allocation of unexpended balance for re-surfacing of Boyle
and Magnolia Avenue, etc., was read.
It was moved by Scheider, seconded by Peralta that the
communication be filed. Motion carried.
Resolution No. 965, a resolution instructing the City
Engineer to file an amended application on behalf of the Ci~ of
Vernon with the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works
of the United States Government, for a re-allocation for the com-
pletion of the Improvement necessary to carry the storm waters
into the Leonis Boulevard Storm Drain System of the City of Vernon,
was read.

It was moved by Scheider, seconded by Peralta that same

Resolution No. 966, a resolution approving a map showing
the exterior boundaries of the sewer district NO.1, of the City
of Vernon, was read.
It was moved by Peralta, seconded by Scheider that
same be approved. Motion carried.
A Report of the Consulting Electrical Engineer on the
operation of the Vernon Electric System by the Southern California
Eaison Company for the Month of December, 1938, was read.
It was moved by Scheider, seconded by Peralta that same
be filed. Motion carried.
