MINUTES OF AN ADJOURNED REGULAR
MEETING OF THE CITY C OUNC IL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON, CALIFORNIA, HELD
THURSDAY, AUGUST 17, 1939, AT THE
HOUR OF THREE O'CLOCK P.M., AT THE
CITY HALL OF THE CITY OF VERNON, 4305
SANTA FE AVENUE, VERNON, CALIFORNIA.
The meeting was called to order by the Mayor, J. J.
Furlong.
Councilmen present: Furlong, Peralta, Leonis.
Councilmen absent: Levy, Scheider.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Peralta that the
reading of the Minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed with.
Motion carried.
Resolution No. 1001, a resolution of the City Council
of the City of Vernon, amending Resolution No. 993 of the City
of Vernon adopted on the 25th day of July, lS39, relating to the
issuance of $350#000.00 of bonds of City of Vernon Sewer District
No. One,.. which bonds are de signa ted as "City of Vernon Sewer Dis-
trict No. One Bonds, Election 1939", was read.
It was moved by Peralta, seconded by Leonis that Resolu-
tion No. 1001 be adopted. Motion carried by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen Leonis, Furlong and Peralta.
NOES: None
ABSENT: Levy, Scheider.
A communication from Wm. T. Jennings, offering to buy
$10#000.00 of bonds, was read.
It was moved by Peralta, seconded by Leonis, that the
communication be filed. Motion carried.

Resolution No. 1002, a resolution of the City Council
of the City of Vernon, awarding and selling bonds in the sum of
$10#000.00 of Vernon Sewer District No. One, designated as "City
of Vernon Sewer District No. One Bonds, Election 1939", was-read.
It was moved by Peralta, seconded by Leonis, that reso-
1002 be adopted. Motion carried by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen Leonis, Furlong and Peralta.
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilmen Levy and Scheider.
It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Peralta, that E. R.
Young, Attorney at Law, act as special counsel for the City of Vernon
in Court on a test case to determine the validity of the City of
Vernon Sewer District No. One Bonds, Election 1939. Motion carried.
It was moved by Peralta, seconded by Leonis that the City
Clerk order the City of Vernon Sewer District No. One Bonds, Election

It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Peralta that the
meeting adjourn to the 22nd day or August, at three o'clock P.M.
Motion carried.
