MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON, HELD
MONDAY, THE 15TH DAY OF APRIL, 1940,
AT THREE O'CLOCK P.M., AT THE CnY
HALL OF THE CITY OF VERNON, 435t"'SANTA
FE AVENUE, VERNON, CALIFORNIA.

The meeting was called to ord~r by the M~yor, J. J.
Furlong.
Councilmen present: Furlong, Peralta, Leonis, Scheider,
Levy
Councilmen absent: None
The City Council on this date, being the first Monday
after the General Municipal Election, convened for the purpose of
canvassing .the returns and installing the newly elected officers,
elected at said General Municipal Election held April 9, 1940:
The City Council canvassed the returns, and upon the
completion of said oanvass, Councilman Peralta introduoed Resolu-
tion No. 1017, a resolntion reoiting the faots of the eleotion,
and moved its adoptionc, which was seoonded by Councilman Leonis,
and oarried.
The oanvass of the returns show the whole number of
votes cast in the City were One Hundred and Five (105); Spoiled
ballots, three (3).
For Counoilmen, full term of four years, J. J. Furlong,
102 votes; Riohard Levy, 89 votes.
For City Clerk, Thomas J. Furlong, 102 votes; and
For City Treasurer, Franklin G. Frenoh, 99 votes.
Upon the passage of the Resolution, deolaring the re-
sults of the Election, the City Clerk did, immediately, sign and
deliver to each person eleoted a Certifioate of Eleotion, and
administered the oonstitutional oath of office prescribed by the
Constitution of the State of California, with the exoeption of
himself.
The Mayor then administered the oath of offioe to the
City Clerk.
There being nothing further to oome before the Board, then
it was moved by Peralta, seoonded by Scheider, that the meeting ad-
journ. Motion oarried.
