MINUTES OF AN ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING
OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VER-
NON, HELD ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 8, 1940,
AT THE HOUR OF TWO 0 f CLOCK P. M. AT THE
CITY HALL 4305 SANTA FE AVE. VERNON ,CALIF.
The meeting was called to order by the Mayor, J. J. Furlong.
Councilmen present: Furlong, Peralta, Levy, and Leonis.
Councilmen absent: Scheider.
It was moved by Peralta and seconded by Leonis that the reading
of the Minutes o~ the meeting of October 1, 1940, be suspended.
Motion carried.
It was moved by Leonis and seconded by Peralta that the City
Attorney be authorized to change the name o~ Magnolia Avenue in the
City o~ Vernon to Alcoa Avenue. Motion carried.
A letter ~rom Mr. D. H. Lillywhite requesting the Council to
change an ordinance to permit the stock show to be held outside o~
the proper zone was read.
It was moved by Levy and seconded by Peralta that, in the
opinion of the Council, it would not be to the best interests o~
the City to change the ordinance at this time, and that the City
Attorney be authorized to noti~y Mr. Lillywhite o~ the action o~
the Council. Motion carried.
It was moved by Levy and seconded by Peralta that the meeting
adjourn. Motion carried.
