AT THE CITY HALL 4305 SANTA FE AVENUE, VERN ON, CALIFORNIA The Meeting was called to order by Mayor Leonis. Councilmen Present: Messers, Scheider, Leonis Levy and Furlong Counci~en Absent: E. R. Peralta It was moved by Levy, seconded by Scheider that the Minutes of the Meeting of July 15, 1941 be approved without reading. Motion carried. Communication from the City Engineer, Francis Bates, submitting easement from The Factory Site Company on Hampton Street. It was moved by Furlong, seconded by Levy that the communication be filed. Motion carried. RESOLUTION No. 1058, a Resolution of the City Council of the City of Vernon accepting easement from Factory Site Company was read. It was moved by Furlong,seconded by Scheider that Resolution No. 1058 be adopted. Motion carried. Communication from the City Engineer, Francis Bates,. sub- mitting Specification No. 125 for the improvement of Vernon Avenue between Boyle and Downey Road was read. It was moved by Levy, seconded by Scheider that communication be filed. Motion carried. RESOLUTION NO. 1059, a Resolution of the City Council of the City of Vernon approving plans and specifications for the improvement of Vernon Avenue, Specification No. 125, was read. It was moved by Levy, seconded by Scheider that Resolution No. 1059 be adopted. Motion carried. It was moved by Levy, seconded by Scheider that the City Clerk of the City of Vernon be instructed to advertise for bids for the doing of the work specified in Specification No. 125. Motion carried. Communication from the City Engineer, Francis Bates, sub- mitting Specification No. 126 for the pu$ase of one 1941 Motor Truck for the Street Department was read. It was moved by Scheider, seconded by Furlong that the communication be filed and approved. Motion carried. was RESOLUTION NO. 1060, a Resolution approving specification No. 126 read. It was moved by Levy, seconded by Furlong that Specification 1060 be adopted. Motion carried. No. 397 It was moved by Levy, seconded by Furlong that the City Clerk be authorized and instructed to advertise ~or bids ~or the purchase o~ a truck under Speci~ication No. 126. Motion Carried. Communication ~rom City Engineer, Francis Bates, requesting authority to make application to the Federal Works Agency, ~or Federal Grant in connection with addition to Water System and Fire Department Substation, was read. It was moved by Furlong, seconded by Scheider that the communication be ~ile d and approved. Motion carried. RESOLUTION NO. 1061, a Resolution o~ the City Council authorizing and empowering Francis Bates, City Engineer"to make application ~or and on behal~ o~ the City o~ Vernon to the Federal Works Agency Public Works Administration for Grant for De~ense Public Work and to fUrnish all engineering data or other information required by the Federal Works Agency. It was moved by Furlong, seconded by Scheider that Resolution 1061 be adopted. Motion carried. RESOLUTION NO. 1062, a Resolution of the City Council o~ the City of Vernon, authorizing Thomas V. Cassidy, City Attorney of the City of Vernon to furnish legal information to the Federal Works Agency Public Works Administration to support the application o~ the City of Vernon in requesting a grant from said Federal Works Agency, was read. It was moved by Furlong, seconded by Scheider that Resolution No. ,1062 be adopted. Motion carried. RESOLUTION NO. 1063, a Resolution of the City Council of the City of Vernon, appropriating One Hundred Thousand ($100~000.00) Dollars from the General Fund of the City to the Water and Fire llepartment Construction Fund, was read. It was moved by Scheider, seconded by Furlong that Resolution 1063 be adopted. Motion carried. RESOLUTION NO. 1064, A Resolution of the City Council of the City o~ Vernon declaring the prevailing rate of per diem wages to be used in the improvement of Vernon Avenue between Boyle Avenue and Downey Road as described in Specification No. 125, hereto~ore approved by the City Council of the City of Vernon, was read. It was moved by Levy, seconded by Furlong that Resolution 1064 be adopted. Motion Carried. It was moved by Levy, seconded by Furlong that the City Clerk be authorized and instructed to advertise ~or bids for the doing of the work as described in Specification No. 125. Motion carried. RESOLUTION NO. 1065, A Resolution of the City Council o~ the City of Vernon approving Specification No. 127 for the drilling o~ two water wells and the developing and testing thereo~, was read. It was moved by Levy, seconded by Scheider that Resolution No. 1065 be adopted. Motion carried. RESOLUTION NO. 1066, a Resolution o~ the City Council of the City o~ Vernon, declaring the prevailing rate of per diem wages to be used in the drilling o~ two water wells and the developing and testing thereof as aescribed in Specification No. 127, was read. It was moved by Scheider, seconded by Furlong that Resolution No. 1066 be adopted. Motion carried. It was moved by Furlong, seconded by Scheider that the City Clerk of the City of' Vernon be authorized and instructed to advertise for bids for the drilling of two water wells referred to in Specification No. 127. ReOommended that same be no renewed. It was moved by Levy, seconded by ~rlong that the communication be filed and the recommendation of the City Con- sulting Electrical Engineer be concurred in. Motion carried. Communication from Carl A. Heinze'iconSUlting Engineer, together with check from Southern California Eison Co., in the, sum of $234,382.50 in payment for bond interes and redemption on Light and Power Bonds for 1941-42 was read. It was moved by Levy, seconded by cheider that the communication be filed and the check accepted. Motion carried.
