Councilmen Absent:
At this time the Clerk declaredtha. t owing'to the absence of the
Mayor it would be neceasary to elect a Mayor Pro Tempore.
It was moved by Furlong; seconded by Scheider that Mr. E.R.
Peralta act as Mayor Pro Tempore. Motion carried.
The Mayor Pro Tempore,E.R. Peralta then called'the meeting
to order and proceded with the regular order of business.
It was moved by Furlong, seconded by Scheider that the Minutes
of the previous meeting be approved without reading. Motion carried.

Communication from Francis Bates, City Engineer, submittj;ng
letter-from Petrol eompany requesting pipe line easement over 26th
Street, Soto Street, and Downey Road, etc. was read.
It was moved by Furlong, seconded by Scheider.that the o~ej
be laid over until next regular meeting of the Council. Motian cart-led.,..

Communication from Carmel Winery Co. requesting permit to
conduct a business of wine bottling and packaging for wholesale trade
at 2528 Santa Fe Avenue, was read.
It was moved by Furlong, seconded by Scheider that the
communication be filed and permit granted. Motion carrie~.
Communication from Acme Scale and Fixture Co., requesting a
permit"to conduct a manufacturing of market fixtures and. equJ.pmentat
3015 E. 25th Street was read.
It was moved by Scheider, seconded by Furlong that the

Communication from the Western Belting &.Equ;tinent 00., reque'sting
permit to conduct a business of fabricating steel, ma.nufacturing~rain,
feed, fertilizer and related mills and appurtenances thereto; merchandising
and manufacturing leather and rubber goods and belting at 2600 Santa Fe
Avenue was read..

Communication from Western Union Telegraph Co., requesting curb
be painted yellow in front of their office was read.
