The meeting was ca1~ d to order by Mayor J. B. Leonis
It was moved by Poxon, seconded by Mal1liard that the minutes of
the previous meeting be approved. Motion carried.
Communication from the City .c.ngineer recommending that Mr.. Ross
Langkey's rate of pay be changed from $6.50 per day to $180.00 per month
as inspector on work done under city permits, was read.
It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Paxon, that the communi-
cation be filed and the recommendation of the City Engineer be approved.
Motion carried.
Communication from the City Engineer submitting street sweeping
schedule and recommendation that bids be asked for, for the pickup of
sweepings, was read.
It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Mai11iard, that the
communication be filed and the matter referred to the Committee of the
Whole. Motion carried.
Report of F. H. Donnelly, Fire Chief, on applioation by Calif-
ornia Grating & Exporting Company at 2241 East 38th Street, together with
the recommendation of the Fire Chief that the permit be denied due to con-
gested conditions in vicinity, was read.
It was moved by Paxon, Seconded by Mai11iard, that the report be
filed and application denied. Motion carried.
Request of the Chief of Police to have walls an. cells in the City
Jail painted, and to purchase 16 mattress pads, was read.

Report of the City Clerk on franchise reports submitted by the
~enera1 Petroleum Corporation on franchise Nos. 80, 152, 299, 532, together
with check 1n the sum of $72.98 and report of the City C~k that the report
submitted is consistent with past reports filed, was read.

with Partial Release and Conveyance executed by Southern California Edison
Co., and the Harris Trust & Savings jank to the City of Vernon, certain
additions, betterments, etc., together with recommendat1Qn~ and approval
of the Consulting Engineer, was re~d.
It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Mari11iard, that the co~
nication be filed and and the Release and Conveyance aocepted. Motion

Communication from MacGlashan Air Machine Gun Company requesting
permit to conduct and operate a light manufacturing plant of metal products
at 4715 Hampton Street, was read.
It was moved by Mai11iard, seconded by Peralta, that the commu-
nication be filed and permit. granted. Motion carried.
Communication from "CAAMCO" requesting permit to conduct and op-
erate a precision machine shop at 4717 Hampton Street, was read.
It was moved by Mai11iard, seconded by Peralta, that the commu-
nication be filed and permit granted. Motion carried.
Communication from Aircraft Hardware Manufactt.rl.ng Company request
ing permit to operate warehouse for aircraft parts at 2344 E. 38th Street,
was read.
It was moved by Mailliard, seconded by Peralta, that the commu-
nication be filed and permit granted. Motion carried.
Communication from General Petroleum Corporation requewting
permission to abandon in place 7 oil pipe lines and telephone conduit in
Soto Street and Vernon Avenue covered by Ordinances 393 and 450, was read.
It was moved by Poxon, seconded by frowbridge, that the communi-
cation be filed and permit granted. Motion carried.
Report of General Petroleum Corp. on Los Angeles County Franchise
Ordinance 781 N.S. (No pipe line laid), was read.
It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Poxon, that the report be
filed. Motion carried.
Report of Union Oil Company on Los Angeles County Franchise Ordi-
nance No. 596 N.S. (No pipe lines laid), was read.
It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by.Poxon that the report be
filed, Motion carried.
Communication from Harron, Rickard & McCone Go. requesting permit
to haul refuse from premises of 3850 Santa .l:'e ,lil.venue, was read.
It was moved by Peralta, seconded by Poxon, that the communication
be filed and permit granted. Motion carried.
Communication from Percival Steel & Supply Co. requesting ~ rmit
to haul refuse from premises of 4600 Santa Fe Avenue, was read.
It was moved by Peralta, seconded by Mai11iard, that the cBmmuoica
tion be filed and permit granted. Motion carried.
Report of the Police Department was read.
It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Mai1liard, that the report
be filed, Motion carried.
Reportof C. A. Heinze, Consulting Engineer on operations of elec-
tric system for month of November, 1944, was read.
It was moved by Poxon, seconded by Trowbridge, that the report
be filed. Motion carried.
Report of the Committee on Street Maintenance, Building, Pur-
chasing and Library, was read.
It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Mailliard, that the report
be filed, Motion carried.
