M. AT THE OFFICE OF THE C1TY COUNCIL, 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, Vernon. COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Messrs. Leonis, Poxon, Trowbridge, Peralta and Mail11ard COUNCILMEN ABSENT: None The meeting was called to order by Mayor J. B. Leonis. It was moved by Peralta, seconded by Trowbridge, that the minutes of the previous meeting be approved. Motion carried. Communication from the City Engineer requesting authority to employ Mr. B. C. Timm as street painter for the street department at the rate of $7.00 per day, effective February 19, 1945, was read. It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Ma1lliard, that the commu- nication be filed and request granted. Motion carried. Communication from AtChison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Co., re- garding application for franchise for construction of two storage tracks across East 49th Street, was read. It was moved by Peralta, seconded by Mailliard, that the matter be referred to the City Engineer for a report. Motion carried. Communication from General Petroleum Corp. regarding Franchise Ordinance No. 152 for pipe lines in certain streets, was read. It was moved ,by Poxon, seconded by Peralta, that the matter be referred to the City Engineer for a repart. Motion carried. COmmunication from County of LoS Angeles Regional Planning Commiss- ion regarding County's 1945-&6 and post war plans, whicp will soon be present- ed to the Board of Supervisors for review, was read. It was moved by Poxon, seconded by Mailliard, that the communication be filed. Motion carried. . Communication from Continental Casualty Company offering to pay one half,damages to traffic signal damaged by Ball Freight Lines at Leonis Blvd., and Soto Street on November 10, 1943, was read. It was moved by Trowbriged, seconded by Mailliard that the communica. tion be filed and the offer accepted. Motion carried. Communication from James Machine Repair Shop requesting permit to operate machine repair shop at 2529 East 28th Street, was read. It was moved by Poxon, seconded by Mailliard, that the communication be filed and permit granted. Motion carried. . Communication from G. H. Sarver requesting permit to operate a repair . and equipment maintenance business at 1052 East52nd St. was read. It was mo'ved by Mailliard, seconded by poxon, that the communication be filed ama permit granted. Motion carried. Donnelly, Fire Chief, that application for rubber manuf'actu~ing at 3461 East 26th Street, be granted, was read. It was moved by Peralta, seconded by Poxon, that the oommunication be filed and recommendation concurred in. Motion oarried. . Communication from Ulysses R. Davis requesting permit to operate a lunch stand at 2055 East 51st. Street, was re$.d. It was moved by Poxo~, seconded by Peralta, that the communication be filed and permit granted. Motion carrIed. Commu~ication from Ploneer-Flintkote Company, requesting re-painting of pedestrian crossing on East 55thStreet, was read. It was moved by poxon, Seconded by Peralta, that the communication be filed and matter leferred to the Polioe Department. Motion carried. Communication from Union Die Casting Co. requesting permiSSion to angle park ears in front of their premises at 2313 East 51st Street, was read. It was moved by Paxon, seconded by Peralta, that the communication be filed and the matter referred to the Police Department for report. Motion carried. Communication from E. S. DUling, requesting reconsideration of the Council on the matter of their btiildingpermit, was read. It was moved by Peralta, seconded by Trowbridge, that the request be tiled and denied. Motion carried. It was moved by Peralta, seconded by Trowbridge, that the matter ot amending the Zoning Ordinance be referred to E. R. YoUng, and that he be allowcl reasonable compenaation tor work done in connection with the Zoning Ordinance. Motion carried. . . Report of C. A..
