COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Peralta, Poxon, Trowbridge and Mailliard COUNCILMEN ABSENT: Beonis The City Clerk called the meeting to order and requested that a Mayor pro tempore be elected. It was moved by Paxon, seconded by Mailliard that M. r. Trow- bridge act as Mayor Pro Tempore of the meeting. Motion carried. Mr. Trowbridge then called the meeting to order. It was moved by Poxon, seconded by Mailliard that the reading of the minutes of t~e previous meeting be suspended. Motion carried. ORDINANCE No. 579, An Ordinance regulating the establs~ent and maintenance or automobile camps, trailer camps and automobile trailers, was read for second reading. It was moved by poxon, seconded by Mailliard, that Ordinance No. 579, be passed for second reading. Motion carried. . ORDINANCE NO. 579, an ordinance regulating the establishment and maintenance of automobIle camps, trailer camps and automobile trailers, was read for third and final reading. It was moved by Poxon, seconded by Mailliard, that Ordinance No. 579 be adopted,by the following vote: Motion carried; AYES: Peralta, Poxon, Trowbridge and Mailliard NOES: None ABSENT: Leonis Communication from the City ~gineer, together with letter from Union Oil ~ompany regarding methoa of establshing a base of "gross receipts" in regards to application for pipe line franchise, was read. It was moved by poxon, seconded by Peralta, that the eammunica- tion be filed. Motion carried. Communication from the City Engineer in connection with the installation of traffic signals at Downey Road and Washington Blvd. was read. It was moved by Poxon, seconded by .Mailliard, that the matter be laid over until the next meeting for report of Police Department. Motion carried. Communication from General Petroleum ~orp. requesting permission to abandon in place 191,85' of 6" pipe, located on the east lide of Soto Street, and 79.501 of 8" pipe crossing Soto Street south of 37th Street; also approximately 401 of 10" casing across 37th ~treet, 2381 aore or less, west of the center line of Soto Street, was read. It was mo ved bypoxon, seconded by Mailliard, that the communica- tion be referred to the City Engineer for report. Motion carried. Communication frOJ:lt KyleSteel Construction Co. requesting permis- sion to plank the sidewalk and curb for 16 feet adjacent to Union Pacific spur, east side of Alcoa just south of Kyle Steel property to load material under Navy contract, was read. 1~) 1. . Communication from Pioneer Flint~ote Co. requesting permit to haul refuse from premises of 5500 Alameda ~treet, was read. It was moved by Poxon, seconded by Mailliard that the communica- tion be filed and permit granted. Motion carried. Communication from General HefractoriesCo. request1ng permit to haul refuse from premises at 3363 Fruitland Road, was 'read. It was moved by Poxon, seconded by Mailliard that the communi- cation be filed and permit granted. Motion carried. Report of the Police Department was read. It was moved by poxon, seconded by Mailliard, that the report be filed. Motion carried. ORDINANCE NO. 580, an Ordinance ababdoning certain property in the City of Vernon, was read for first reading. It was moved by Poxon, seconded by Mailliard, that Ordinance No. 580 be passed for first reading. Motion carried. Report of the ~o~tt.e on Street Maintenance, Building, Purchasing and Library, was read. It was moved by Poxon, seconded by Peralta, that the report be filed. It was moved by Poxon, seconded by Mailliard, that the matter be referred to the City Attorney for the drawing of an ordinance. Motion carried. APPLICATION 10656 Southern California WaterCo. requesting permission to repair water main at 4603 Santa Fe Avenue.
