B. Leonis. . It was moved by Poxon, seconded by Mailliard that the minutes of the previous meeting be approved. Motion carried. ORDINANCE NO. 580, an Ordinance abandoning certain property in the City ot Vernon, was read ror jaeend reading. It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Poxon, that Ordinance No. 580 be passed ror second reading. Motion carried. ORDINANCE NO. 580, and Ordinance abandoning certain property in the C ijy or Vernon, was read for third and final reading. It was moved'by Trowbridge, seconded by Poxon that Ordinance No. 580 be adopted. Motion carried by the following vote: AYES: Leonis, Peralta., Poxon. Trowbridge and. Mailliard NOES: None ABSENT: None Application by AtChison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company for franchise to construct, maintain and operate a traek-across Sota Street and BoyleAvenue, was read. Communication from Compressor Service Company requesting p'rmit to conduct and operate a sale, rental, repair, and m~intenance of all' com- pressors, rock drills and pavement breakers at 3612 ~o. Tequasting permit to conduct a business of packaging of household cleaning products at 2860 E. 54th Street, was read. Levin & Son, for the purchase of scrap copper and lead. It was moved by Poxon, seconded by Trowbridge, that all bids be filed. Motion carried. ORDINANCE No. 581, an Ordinance Granting Franchise to the Union pacii'ic Railroad Company to operate a spur track upon East 37th Street, was read for first reading. It was moved by Peralta, seconded by Trowbridge, that Ordinance No.581 be passed for first reading. Motion carried. At this time the City Clerk stated he had instructed the City of Los A~ge- les that the City of Vernon is willing to contribute to the installation of a four-way street signal at the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Downey Road, and contribute to said installation an amount not to ex- ceed $825.00, and further to contribute to the maintenance thereof a sum not to exceed $7.00 per month. It was moved by Poxon,~ecohded by Trowbridge that the City Attorney, together with the City ~ngineer interview the Water Company and ascertain if there is some way in which the digging up of the streets of the City of Vernon can be prevented.
