M. IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY HALL, 4305 . S.NTA FE AVENUE, VERNON, CAL. COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Leonis, Poxon, Trowbridge and Mail1iard COUNCILMEN ABSENT: Peralta (Deceased) The meeting was called to order bp Mayor J. B. Leonis It was moved b}f Trowbridge, .seconded by Mailliard, that the minutes of the previous meeting be approved. Motion carried. RESOLUTION NO. 1271, a Resolution declaring that public interest and necessity requires that the City condemn certain property, was read. It was moved by Poxon, seconded by Mai11iard, that Resolution No. 1271 be adopted. Motion carried. . RESOLUTION No. 1272, a Resolution approving the TentativeBudget for tne fiscal year 1945-1946, was read' . It was moved by poxon, seconded by Mailliard, that Resolution No. 1272 be adopted. Motion carried. RESOLUTION No. 1273, a Resolution instructing the City Clerk to correct the Minutes of the vity Council as of September 5, 1944, was read. It was moved by Poxon, seconded by Mailliard, that Resolution No. 1273 be adopted. Motion .carried. RESOLUTION NO. 1274, a ResoJJ.tion Expressing sonow and extend- ing sympathy to the members of the family of E. R. Peralta, City Councilman upon his passing, was read. It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Poxon, that Resolution No. 1274 be adopted. Motion carried. ORDINANCE NO. 586, an Ordinance officially naming certain streets within the City of Vernon, was read for second reading. It Was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Mai11iard, that Ordinanee No. 586, be passed for sedond reading. Motion carried. ORDINANCE No. 586, an Ordinance officially naming certain streets within the U1ty or - Vernon, was read for third and final reading. It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Mailliard,that Ordinance No. 586, be adopted. It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Mai11iard, that Ordinance No. 587, be adoptedi. Motion carried. 1. 78 Communication from the City Engineer recommending that William L. Mil~r be permitted to rentmuhicipal house at 3560 E. Vernon Avenue, and John H. Albrecht be permitted to rent municipal house at 4328 Furlong Place, both parties being Pump Operators for the Vernon Water Department, was read. It was moved by Poxon, seconded by Mailliard, that the communica- tion be filed. Motion carried. . Communication trom Carl A. Heinze, Consulting Engineer, regarding letter of Vernon Industrial Development Association and Guthrie & parling under date of July 27, 1945 in reference to partial release and conveyance received from Southern California Edison Co., and the Harris Trust & Savings Bank to the city of Vernon, covering, betterments, a~ditions, alterations and improvements, together with his report that the helease and Conveyance has been checked by him and approved, was read. It wss moved by Mailliard, seconded ,by Trowbridge, that the commu- nication befiled and the matter approved. Motion carried. Communication together with check from Southern California Edison Company in the sum of $215,762.50 covering bond interest and bond redemption .on Light & Power bonds for fiscal year 1945,-1946, together with communica- tion frOlj Carl A. Communication from Federal Works Agency, Bureau of Community Facilities advising that the United States Congress has made funds available to assist in plans for post-war construction projects, was read. It was moved by poxon, seconded by Miilliard, that the communica- tion be filed and the matter referred to the City Engineer. Motion carried. Elliott, Chairman of the (; i tizens Com- mittee, regarding location of proposed sewage treatment plant, was read. It was moved by Poxon, seconded by Trowbridge, that the communica- tion be filed.
