19451002 Regular City Council Meeting - Minutes MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY C OUNC IL OF THE CITY OF VERNON, HELD ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 2, 1945 at 3:00 O'CLOCK P. M. IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY COUNCIL, 4305 SANTA FE AVENUE, VERNON, CALIFORNIA. COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Leonis, Poxon, Trowbridge, Mailliard and Anderson. C OUI~C ILMEN ABSEBT: None The meetina was called to order by Mayor J. B. Leonis It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge, that the min- utes of the previous meeting be approved. Motion carried. " Communication from the County of Los Angeles Health Department regarding rodent control, was read. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Poxon, that the communica- tion be filed. Motion carried. Communication from Technical Glass Company requesting the in- stallation of additional street lighting on East 48th Street between Santa Fe Avenue and Alameda street, was read. It wa~ moved by poxon, seconded by Mailliard that the communica- tion be filed. Motion carried. Communication from C. W. Shelley, Administrative Officer for the City of Montebello advising that the League of California Cities will meet on the second Thursday of each month after September 20th was read. It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Poxon,that the communica- tion be filed. Motion carried. Communication from T. J. Sullivan requesting permit to conduct a plating and polishing business at 5001 Pacific Blvd. was read. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by fuailliard, that the commu- nication be filed and permit granted. Motion carried. Communication from California Cotton Oil Corporation, requesting permit to operate a restaurant at 2301 East 52nd Street, ,was read. It was moved by Ma~lliard, seconded by Anderson, that the commu- nication be referred to the Police Department. Motion carried. Communication froxn Laura ,E. Busch, requesting permit to operate a restaurant at 4406 Santa .b'e Avenue - (formerly Weyers Cafe) was read. It was moved by Mailliard, seconded by Poxon, that the communica- tion be referred to the Police Department. Motion carried. Communication from A. A. Distributing Co. requesting permit to tonduct a home to home sampling campaign of a breakfast cer.al was read. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge, that the communication be filed and permit denied. Motion carried. Communication from Manuel Vasquez (Mary's Cafe) requesting permit to maintain a trailer body without wheels on rear of property at 2021 E. 38th Street pending an extension to building, was read. It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Mailliard, that the co~ munication be referred to the Police Department. Mo~ion carried. 98 1. R~portof the Police Department was read. Motion carried. ~ ORDINANCE NO. 591, An ordinance fixing the time and place of meeting of the ~ity Council of the City of Vernon, and fixing the three most public places in said city, was read for second reading. It was moved by poxon, seconded by Trowbridge, that Ordinance No. 591, be passed for sedond reading. Motion carried. It was moved by Poxon, seconded by Trowbridge, that Ordinance No. 591, be adopted.
