19461001 Regular City Council Meeting - Minutes . MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON HELD OCTOBER :L, 1946 AT 2:00 P. M. IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY COUNCIL 43Q5 Santa Fe Avenue Vernon The meeting was called to order by Mayor J. B. Leonis. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge, that the minutes of the previous meeting be approved. Motion carried. Communication from Vernon Industrial Development Association sub- mitting copy of letter from Stanley W.Gutprie regarding approval by Vernon of Railroad Commission order, was read. It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Mailliard that the commu- nication be filed. Motion carried. Communication from Bohemian Distributing Co. regarding application of Southern California Water Co. for service to White Rock Bottlers Co., 2151 E. 51st St. was read. . It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Anderson, that the commun~ cation be filed and application approved. Motion carried. Communic~tion from T. H. Donahue requesting permit for the manu- facture of insecticides and otb3r. chemicals at 3046 East Bandini Blvd. was read. It was moved by Mailliard, seconded by Anderson, that the commu- nication be filed and permit granted. Motion carried. Commun1cation from Cap~tol Records, Inc. requesting permit to operate a warehouse at 2051 E. 38th Street, was read. It. was moved by Mailliard, seconded by Trowbridge, that the commu- nication be fi~d and the matter referred to the Fire Chief. Motion carried Communication from Sid E. Parker Co. requesting permit for the man ufacture and repairing of steam boilers at 2035 East 37th St. was read. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Mailliard, that the commu- nication be filed and permit granted. Motion carried. Communication from R. L. Billaud requesting permission to move street car on premises of Southeast corner of Alcoa Avenue and Vernon Avenue to be used as lunch room, was read. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Mailliard, that the commu- nication be filed and the matter referred to the Police Department. Motion carri,ed. Communication from ~ndustrial Police Patrol, 'Z837 Long Beach Ave. Huntington Park, requewting permit to conduct a private patrQl within a portion of the city, was read .-- It was moved by Tr?wbridge, seconded by Mailliard, that the com- munication be filed.:: Motion carried. l. 25:1 Communication from Fibreboard Products Co. requesting curb painting at 4444 Pacific Blvd. was read. It was moved by Mailliard, seconded by Amderson, that the communication be filed and the matter referred to the Police Department. Motion carried. Communication from War Assets Administration reque.ting.curb painting at ~80l Santa Fe Avenue, was read. It was moved by Mailliard, seconded by Anderson, that the commu- nication be filed and the matter referred to the Police Department. Motion carried. Communication from Crescent Refining Co. to haul refuse from premises of 2460 E. 28th Street, was read. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge, that the com- munication be fi~d and request granted. Motion carried. Communication from Fibreboard Products Co. requesting permit to haul refuse from plant at 4444 Pacific Blvd. to plant located at 3720 So. Soto Street, was read. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge, that the commu- nication be filed and request granted. Motion carried. Communication from B. Hayman Co. requesting permit to haul refuse from premises at 3301 Leonis Blvd. was read. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge, that the commu- nication be filed and request granted. Motion carried. Report of the Police Department was read. It was moved by Mailliard, seconded by Trowbridge, that the report be filed. Motion carried. Report of the Committee on Street Maintenance, Buftling, Purchasing and Library was read. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge, that the report be filed. Motion carried. RESOLUTION No. l3l7, A resolution approving specifications l32A for hose trucks, was read. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge, that Resolution No. 1317 be adopted. Motion carried. RESOLUTION No. l3l8, a Resolution approving Sepcifications No. l32 B, for motor truck chassis and appurtenances, was read. It was moved by Anderson,seconded by Trowbridge, that Resolution No. 1318, be adopted. Motion carried. . RESOLUTION No. 1319, a Resolution of the City Council of the City of Vernon, exercising its option to extend for an additional period of ten (10) years, a lease with the Southern California Edison Co. Ltd., dated February 23, 1937, was read. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Mailliard, that Resolution No. 1319 be adopted. Motion carried. Communication from Production Pattern Co. referring to a certain culvert as being too small, was read. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge, that the c ommu- nication be filed and the matter referred to the City Engineer. Motion carried. Communication from Feed Processing Company requesting a permit to conduct a business within the City of Vernon, was read. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge, that the eommunication be filed and permit g!anted, with the understanding that the licensee will cease processing in the event the process referred to in his letter should send off obnoxious ordors or otherwise become a nuisance. Motion carried. Communication from Post Transportation Company requesting permit to conduct and operate a restaurant or lunch room was read. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge, that the commu- nication be filed and the matter referred to the Fire Department to see how far the building has been completed. Motion carried. APPLICATION No. 12088, - Southern Calif. Water Co. to install 2 inch water Service at 5516 Santa Fe Avenue, approved by the City Engineer, was read. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge, that the appli- cation be laid over. Motion carried.
