MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON HELD ON FEBRUARY 3, 1948 AT 2:00 PM IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY COUNCIL 4305 Santa Fe Avenue COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Furlong, Anderson, Trowbridge and Mailliard COUNCILMEN ABSENT: Leonis The Mayor of the City being absent, the City Clerk called the meeting to order and requested that a Mayor Pro Ten be elected for the meeting. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Furlong, that Councilman Trowbridge act as Mayor Pro Tem. Motion carried. The Mayor Pro Tem then called the meeting to order. It was moved by Furlong, seconded by Mailliard, that the minutes of the previous meeting be approved. Motion carried. ORDINANCE No. 612, an Ordinance amending certain sections of Ordinance No. 590 to set permit fee of $36.00 per year per taxi-cab, was read for second reading. It was moved by Furlong, seconded by Anderson, that Ordinance No. 612 be passed for second reading. Motion carried. ORDINANCE NO. 612. an Ordinance amending ceDtain secti~ns of Ordinance No. 590 to set permit fee of $36.00 per year per taxi-cab, was read for third and final reading. It was moved by Mailliard, seconded by Furlong, that Ordinance No. 612 be adopted. Motion carried by the following vote: AYES: Trowbridge, Anderson, Mailliard and Furlong NOES: None ABSENT: Leonis Com~unieation from the City Engineer requesting authority to employ Mr. Carl Hedges as instrument and Field Engineer at the rate of $270.00 per month, effective January 26, 1948, was read. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Furlong, that the communica- tion be filed and request concurred in. Motion carried. Communication from Raymond V. Darby, Chairman of Board of Supervisors, in regard to centennial celebrations during years 1948, 1949 and 1950, was r~ad. It was moved by Furlong, seconded byMailliard, that the communica- tion be filed and the matter referred to the Yernon Industrial Development Association. Motion carried. Communication from Vernon K~Llns requesting permission to connect waste water disposal to sanitary sewers, was read. It was moved by Mailliard, seconded by Furlong, that the communi- cation be filed and the matter referred to the City Engineer. ~1otion carried. 1. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Mailliard, that the commu- nication be filed and permit granted. Motion carried. Communication from Snellman Electric Co. requesting permit to conduct an electrical contracting business at 2910 santa Fe Avenue, was read. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Mailliard, that the commu- nication be filed and permit granted. Motion carried. Communication from Howell Pattern Company requesting permit to operate a metal casting foundr~ at 3156 Bandini Blvd. was read. It was moved by Mailliard, seconded by Furlong, that the report be filed. Motion carried. Report of the Committee on Street Maintenance, Building, Purchas- ing and Libary ivas read. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Furlong, that the report be filed. Motion carried. Communication from Aircraft Hardware Mfg. Co. requesting permit to haul refuse from premises of 2344 E. 38th Street, was read. It was moved by Mai11iard, seconded by Furlong, that the communica- tion be filed and permit granted.
