1948, at 10:30 A.M. IN THE OFFICE

COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Furlong, Leonis, Trowbridge

. The meeting was called to order by Mayor R. J. Furlong.
Minutes of the adjourned regular meeting of July 21, 1948
were read. On motion of Twowbridge, seconded by Leonis, the minutes
were approved.
RESOLUTION NO. 1392, a Resolution of the City Council of the
City of Vernon, establishing the prevailing rate of per diem wages to
be paid for work to be done under Specification No. 144, was read.
It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Leonis, that Resolu-
tion No. 1392 be adopted. Motion carried.
ORDINAJICE NO. 616, an Ordinance of the City of Vernon, a.utho-
rizing a contract between the City Council of the City of Vernon and
the Boa.rd of Administration of the California State Eaployeest Retire-
ment System, making its employees members of said system, was read
for second reading. At th1s time the City Attorney announced that it
would be necessary for the passage of this Resolution that same be
approved by a two-thirds vote. In the absence of Anderson and Mailliazd
there was not;:a two- thirds vote present.
It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Leonis, that Ordinance
No. 616 be held over until the next regular meeting, August 3, 1948.
Motion carried.
It was moved by~Leonis, seconded by Trowbridge, that meeting
be adjourned. Motion carried.
