19490103 Regular City Council Meeting - Minutes MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUICIL, OF '!'HE CI'fY OF VERNON HELD ON JANUARY 3rd, 1949 AT 2:00 P.M. IN THE OFFICE OF THE CI'fY COUICIL AT 4305 SAnA FE AVENUE COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Furlong, Leonis and Trowbridge COUNCILMEN ABSENT: Anderson and Mailliard The meeting was called to order by Mayor R. J. Furlong. It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Trowbridge, that the minutes of the previous meeting be approved and filed. Motion carried. Communication from and report of C. A. Heinze, Consulting Engin- eer, on Partial Releases and Conveyances submitted to City of Vernon under date of December 21, 1948, were read. (The Consulting Eng~eer reports that he has checked the Partial Releases and Conveyances and finds that'the fully described the electrical property transferred and involved under the terms of the lease agreement). It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Trowbridge, that'the commu- nication and report be filed. Motion carried. Communication and copy of Tract Map No. 15386 from John Deere Killefer Company for tentative approval for reversion to acreage of certain property in the City of Vernon, was read. It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Leonis, that the communica- tion be filed and the matter referred to the City Engineer for report. Motion carried. Communication from Nicolai Door Sales Company for permit to con- duct a business of warehousing and sale of doors,plywood and other allied products at 5100 So. Boyle Avenue, wa.s read. It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Trowbridge, that the commu- nication be filed and permit granted. Motion carried. Communication from Owl Division-Rexall Drug Company for curb paint- ing at 2700 and 2761 Fruitland Avenue, was read. It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Trowbridge, that the commu- nication be filed and matter referred to the Police Department, Motion carried. Communication from Jack Keys requesting permit to operate service station at 5136 Pacific Blvd. was read. It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Leonis, that the commu- nication be filed and permit granted. Motion carried. Communication from Herman McFarland requesting.permit to operate steam cleaning rack at 2750 S. Alameda Street for trucks and heavy equip- ment, was read. It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Trowbridge, that the commu- nication be filed and permit granted. Motion carried. Report of the Police Department was read. It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Trowbridge, that the report be filed. Motion carried. Jt:. 233 Report of the Committee on Street Maintenance, Building, Purchas- ing and Library was read. It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Trowbridge, that the report be filed. Motion carried. RESOLUTION No. 1419, a Resolution accepting Easement deed from Stephens-Adamspn Manufacturing Company, was read. It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Trowbridge, that Resolution No. 1419 be adopted. W/O Santa Fe Avenue Wilshilre Oil Co. to abandon and remove 3 six inch and 2 eight inch oil and gas line, across 28th street, 1237 and 1286 ft. E/o Santa Fe Avenue Wilshire Oil Co. to abandon and remove 3 six inch and 2 eight inch oil and gas lines across 27th Street, 1200 and 1266 ft. E/o Santa Fe Avenue Reynolds Metals Co. to connect additional plumbing facilities to sewer at 3007 Fruitland Avenue Pakco Company to make sewer connection at 2427 E. 37th St. It was moved by Leonis, seconded by Trowbridge, that the appli- cations be filed and permits granted. Motion carried.
