COUNCILMEN PRESENT: COUNCILMEN ABSENT: Furlong, Anderson and Trowbridge Leonis and Mailliard The meeting was called to order by Mayor R. J. Furlong. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge, that the minutes of the previous meeting be approved and filed. Motion carried. Communication from the City Engineer requesting an additional appropriation of $1500.00 to clean sewers in Soto Street, Vernon Avenue and Santa Fe Avenue, vas read. (The appropriation of $3500.00 was ap- proved 2/15/49). It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge, that the communication be filed and request granted. Motion carried. , Communication from the City Engineer, requesting an appropriation of $4000.00 to complete water well No. 7 repairs, vas read. It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Anderson, that the commu- nieation be filed and request granted. Motion carried. Communication from Clifford G. Kreutz, Chairman District 117 Rotary International Community Service Committee, and J. Paul Hughie, Los Angeles County American Legion Committee, requesting permission to place dual plac- ards on poles at main intersections for their "Operation Safety" program, was read. The theme is "'Watch out for Kids. II It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge, that the commu- nication be filed and the matter referred to the Police Department for report. Motion carried. An order extending time by the Public Utilities Commission :for the completion of traffic control signals along Alameda Street, WaS read. Timeaxtended to March 31, 1949 for completion o:f the work. It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Anderson, that the order be filed. Motion carried. Communication from United States Spring & Bumper Company, stating they have been requested by the County Sanitation District to discharge all water used kJ in their heat exchangers in Bumper plating department into the City drain, vas read. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge, that the commu- nication be filed and the matter referred to the City Engineer. Motion carried. Communication from Stone & Youngberg, Investment Securities, re- questing support of Senate Bill No. 851 to permit municipal vater systems to finance by issuing revenue bonds payable exclusively from earnings of the system, was read. It was moved by Trovbridge, aeconded by Anderson, that the communi- cation be filed. Motion carried. Report of Carl A. RESOLUTION No. 1425, a resolution authorizing the advancement or $1500.00 ror maintenance or sewer in Soto Street and in Santa Fe Avenue, was read. It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Anderson, that Resolution No. 1425 be adopted. Motion carried. RESOLUTION No. 1426, a resolution authorizing the advancement or $4000.00 for repair of water well No.7, was read. It vas moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Anderson, that Resolution No. 1426 be adopted. Motion carried. Communication from Stephens Adamson Mfg.
