IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS uF THE Cln HALL LOCATED AT 4305 SANTA FE AVENUE, VERNON, CALIFORNIA. Communication and report of Fire Chief, F. H. Donnelly, on request of J. T. Jenkins Company, for a permit to conduct a motor truck distributors sales and service business at 2160 E. 25th Street. Fire Chief, F. H. Donnelly recommends that a permit be granted, was read. It was moved by Mailliard, seconded by Trowbridge, that the communication and report of F.H.Donnelly, Fire Chief, be filed, and a permit be granted to J. T. Jenkins Company. Motion carried. Communication from the General Electric Company, for a permit to conduct a warehouse at 3000 E. 46th Street, was read. It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Anderson, that the communication of the General Electric Compan~ be filed, and a permit be issued to conduct a warehouse at 3000 E. ~6th Street. Motion carried. Communication and report of the Southern California Edison Company, on accrued rentals and 2% gross receipts under the Vernon Lease for the period of June lJ 1948 to May [Ij 1949, together with aA~I)~ check in the aount of $64,999.05', was read. .. , It was moved by Anderson, seconded by TrOWbridge, that the report be referred to C.A.Heinze, Consulting Engineer, for checking and report. Motion carried. Communication from W. E. Ross, requesting vacation leave, start- ing August 1, 1949, was read. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Mailliard, that vacation leave be ~ranted to W. E. Ross. Motion carried. Communication from Fred Hurley, requesting vacation leave, starting August 19, 1949, was read. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridlge, that vacation leave be granted Fred Hurley starting August 19, 1949. Motion carried. 1. 30:1 Comnll.mication from Mildred L. Fries, advising that she will discontinue business at 5208 Santa Fe Avenue, July 31, 194-9, was read. It was moved by Mailliard, seconded by Trowbridge, that the communication of Mildred L. Fries be filed. Motion carried. Communication from W. B. Axford & Son, requesting curb paint- ing at 214-9E. 37th Street, was read. It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Mailliard, that the communication of W. B. Axford & Son be filed, and the matter be referred to the Police Department. Motion carried. Communication from the City Clerk, City of Los Angeles, submitting copy ~f Ordinance 95017, concerning the use of sewer facilities and disposal of sewage, was read. It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Mailliard, that the communication from the City Clerk of the C1ty of Los Angeles be referred to the City Engineer. Motion carried. Report of the Police Department, was read. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Mailliard, that the report of the Police Department be filed. Motion carried. Application l1.r63l - Southern California Gas Co., to repair 4" gas main in N/S Vernon Avenue, 810 ft. E/O Soto Street. Application 14632 - Southern California Gas Co., to repair 6" gas main in N/S Vernon Avenue, 700 ft. E/O Santa Fe Avenue. Application 14633 - Southern California Gas Co., to remove emergency tie-in in E/S Downey Road, 289 ft. S/O Vernon Avenue. Application 14634 - Southern California Gas Co., to drill and fill barholes and make 4x2 t cut in alley E/O Santa Be Avenue for leakage and make repairs to service at 21.r08 E. 28th Street. Application 14635 - Southern California Edison Co., to replace 2 poles in W/S Pacific Blvd., 10 and 120 ft. N/O Fruitland Avenue. - Union Oil Company, to discontinue 1.rn oil line leading to General Metals Company, on W/S Boyle Avenue, 250 ft. N/O Slauson Avenue. Application 14637 - Southern Pacific Company, to replace 6 ft. rail at Fruitland Avenue and Santa Fe Avenue. Application 14636 Application 14638 - Poulsen & Nardon Co. to connect additional plumbing facilit ies at 2665 Leonis Blvd. Application 14639 - Mrs. Judith M. Motion carried. " Councilman Trowbridge introduced Resolution No. 1441. THAT,WHEREAS, there is a vacancy in the office or the Street Superintendent of the City of Vernon and it is for the best interests of said city that said vacancy be fUled, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That Francis Bates be, and he is hereby, appointed Street Superintendent of the City of Vernon, said appointment to take effect immediately. Moore, as City Judge of the City of Vernon, shall be the sum of $200.00 per month.
