MIliUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON HELD NOVEYJ.BER
1,1949, AT 20'CLOCK P.M. IN THE COUNCIL
CHAMBERS OF THE CITY HALL, LOCATED AT 4305'
SANTA FE AVENUE.. VERNON.. CALIFORNIA
COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Anderson, Furlong, Mailliard, Trowbridge
COUNCILMEN ABSENT : Leonis
The meeting was ,called to order by Mayor R. J. Furlong.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge that the
minutes of' the previous meeting be approved. Motion carried. .
Report submitted by Air Pollution Control District f'or month
of' September, 19~9, was read.
It was moved by T.ruwbridge, seconded by Anderson that the
report of the Air Pollution Control District be f'iled. Motion carried.
Communication f'rom City of' Los Angeles with resolution
attached demanding $1,814,95'2.60 as Vernon share of' the cost of the
construction of the New Treatment Plant and Submarine Outf'all at Hyperion,
was read.
Communication from United States Steel Supply Co. requesting
curb painting on Second Street, was read.
It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Mailliard that the
request of the United States Steel Supply Co. be filed, and the matter
referred to the Police Department. Motion carried.
Communication from Acme Steel Company requesting curb painting
on 49th Street, west of Pacific Blvd., was read.
It was moved by Anderson? seconded by Trowbridge that the
request of the Acme Steel Company be f~led, and the matter be referred to
the Police Department. Motion carried.
Communication from Kennedy Name Plate Co. requesting a permit
to haul ref'use over city streets f'rom 45'01 Pacific Blvd., was read.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge that the
communication from Kennedy Name Plate Co. be filed and permit granted.
Motion carried.
Communication from Union Carbide and Carbon Co~ requesting
a permit to haul refuse from 2305' E. 52nd street over city streets, was read.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge that the
communication from Union Carbide and Carbon Co. be filed and permit granted.
Motion carried.

Report of the Committee on Street Maintenance, Water,
Building, Library and Purchasing for October 18, 19Lr9 was received.
It was moved by Mailliard, seconded by Trowbridge that
the reports be approved and filed. Motion carried.
The Demands on the General Fund in the amount of
$2l,53Lr.23 and consisting of the following items, were read.
