MINUTES OF AN ADJ OURNED REGULAR
MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY mF VERNON HELD ON JANUARY
2~, 1970, AT 2 O'CLOCK P.M. IN THE
COUNCIL CHAMBERS OF THE CITY HALL,
LOCATED AT ~307 SANTA FE AVENUE,
VERNON. CALIFORNIA
COUNCILMEN PRESENT: Anderson, Furlong, Mailliard
and Trowbridge.
COUNCILMEN ABSENT: Leonis
The meeting was called to order by Mayor R. J. Furlong.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge, that
thl! reading of the previous meeting be laid over. Motion carried.
Communication from Containers Corporation of America
in regards to application for a building permit was read.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge,
that action be deferred until a written report be received from the City
Attorney and City Engineer. Motion carried.
Resolution No. 1462 - A Resolution of the City Council
of the~City of Vernon Authorizing R. J. Furlong, Mayor, to act in the place
of T. J. Furlong, City Clerk of the City of Vernon, during the illness of
said City Clerk, or until order of the City Council of the City of Vernon,
was read.
It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Anderson, that
Resolution No. 1462 be adopted. Motion carried. '

Resolution No. 1463 - A Resolution of the City Council
of the City of Vernon approving Specifications No. 171 for HOUSing, Shaft and
Appurtenances, including incidental work for housing of an Electric Passenger
Elevator in the City of Vernon City Hall, located at ~307 Santa Fe Avenue,
Vernon, California, was read.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge, that
Resolution No. 1463 be adopted. Motion carried.

Resolution No. 146~ - A Resolution of the City Council
of the City of Vernon approving Specifications No. 172 for furnishing and
installing Electric Passenger Elevator and appurtenances in the City of Vernon
City Hall, located at ~307 Santa Fe Avenue, Vernon, california, was read.
It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Mailliard,
that Resolution No. 146~ be adopted. Motion carried.

Resolution No. 1467 - A Resolution of the Council of
The City of Vernon, California, terminating employment and authori" of
Special Counsel. was read.

Resolution No. 1467 be rejected and not approved. Motion carried.

Resolution No. 1466 - A Resolution of the Council of
the City of Vernon authorizing an amendment to that certain agreement dated
August 10, 1938, between the City of Los Angeles and the City of Vernon,
undertaking and agreeing, effective January 1, 1970, on the part of the
City of Vernon to pay its proportionate share of the cost of the upkeep
and maintenance of that portion of the City of Los Angeles Outfall Sewer
System used by the City of Vernon for tpe purpose of disposing of its
sewage, and to pay its proportionate share of the cost of the construction!
operation, maintenance, upkeep and repair of the sewage treatment plant ana
submarine tube as constructed, operated and maintained by the City of Los
Angeles at Hyperion, and to pay its proportionate share of the cost of
chlorination of sewage at Hyperion by the City of Los Angeles pursuant to
the judgment, decree and order of Court in the action entitled "People
of the State of California vs. the City of Los Angeles, et al.", No.
~89890, and authorizing and instructing the dismissal of that certain
action pending in the Superior Court of the State of California in and for
the County of Los Angeles, entitled tfCity of Vernon, a Municipal Corpora-
tion, Plaintiff', vs. City of Los Angeles, a Municipal Corporation, De-
fendant", No. 758132, was read.
It was moved by Anderson, seanded by Trowbridge, that
Resolution No. 1~6 be laid over. Motion carried.

Edward R. Young, Special Counsel, addressed the City
Council regarding the Sewer Contract matters with the City of Los Angeles
and the City of Vernon and payment of sewer judgment.
It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded 'by Mailliard!
that the meeting adjourn to January 27, 1'70 at 2:00 P.M. Motion carr ed.
