CALIFORNIA COUNCIL PRESlt'NT: Anderson, Furlong, Poxon, Trowbridge COUNCIL ABSENT : Mailliard (illness) The meeting was called to order by Mayor R.J. Furlong. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge that the minutes of April 3rd, 17th and 18th, 1951 be approved as read. Motion carried. Communication from Fletcher Bowron Mayor of the City of Los Angeles advising that a City-County TraffIc Conference will be held May 10, 1971 at the Ambassador Hotel and requesting that a representative of the city attend together with representation from various organizations from the area, was read. It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Poxon that a representative of the city attend the Traffic Conference on Kay lOth, 1951 at the Ambassador Hotel. Motion carried. Communication from the Adhesive Products Inc. requesting a permit to conduct business at 4721 East 48th street, was read. It was moved by Poxon, seconded by Trowbridge that the request of the Adhesive Products, Inc. be approved and permit granted. Motion carried. Communication from Ideal Packing Company requesting permit to conduct business of wholesaling meats at 3095 E. Vernon Avenue, was read. It was moved by poxon, seconded by Trowbridge that the request of the Ideal Packing Company be approved and permit granted. l-'10tion carried. Communication from Meat Purveyors requesting permit to conduct business of wholesaling meats at 7070 Alameda Street, was read. It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Anderson that the request of Meat Purveyors be approved and permit granted. Motion carried. Progress Report No. 52 submitted by Lloyd Aldrich? City Engineerl City of Los Angeles on Hyperion Activated Sludge Plan~ for month end ng March 31, 1971 was received. . It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Poxon that Report No. 72 submitted by Lloyd Aldrich, City Engineer, City of Los Angeles on Hyperion Activated Sludge Plant be referred to the City Engineer. Motion carried. Communication fromW.B. HOllingworth, City Engineer, requesting authority to employ Mr. M.J. Allen as Chainman in Engineering Department at rate of $250.00 per month, effective May 3, 1971, was read. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge that the request of City Engineer, W.B. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Poxon that the application submitted by the Los Angeles Transit Lines and the Pacific Electric Railway Company be filed. Motion carried. Comraunication from Container Corporation request- ing curb painting on 50th Street near Boyle Avenue, was read. Communication from H & R Trucking Company request- ing curb painting at 2740 E. 26th Street, was read. Communication f'rom Diversfied Metal Products Company requesting curb painting at 5125 Alcoa Avenue, was read. Communication from Bohemian Distributing Company requesting curb painting at 22~ East 49th Street, was read. It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Anderson that the comrllunications from Container Corporation, H & R Trucking Company, Diversfied Metal Products Company and the Bohemian Distributing Company be referred to the Police Department. Motion carried. . Communication from F.R. Donnelly, Fire Chief, requesting authority to appoint Mr. L.C. Newman as Captain to replace Captain Glen M. Newcombe (resigned) at rate of $355.00 per month with additional $26.00 per month as Master Mechanic for the Fire Department effective May 1, 1951, also authority to re-hire Mr. Thomas R. Garner as hoseman at rate of $282.00 per month ef'fective May 1, 1951, was read. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge that the request of F.R. Donnelly, Fire Chief be approved. Motion carried. Communication and report of F.R. Donnelly, Fire Chief, on application of Mission Way Service to establish a tire business at 3250 E. Washington Blvd., was read. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Paxon that the report of' the Police Department be received and filed. Motion carried. Application 15984 -.. Southern California Gas Compahy to repair gas main on N/S 37th Street, 62 and 75 ft. E!O Ross Street and 24-7 ft. W/O Santa Fe Avenue. It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Anderson that applications numbered 15983 to 16000 all having the approval of the City Engineer be filed and permits granted. Motion carried. Communication from G.A. Anderson, City Clerk, requesting permission to take vacation leave starting May 5, 1951. It was moved by Poxon, seconded by Trowbridge that the request of G.A. Anderson, City Clerk be granted. Motion carried. Resolution 1529- Resolution of the City Council of the City of Vernon relative to Workmen's Compensation Insurance for registered volunteer tlDisaster Service Workerstl, was read.
