COUNCIL ABSENT : Furlong, Mailliard
, It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Poxon that due
to the absence of Mayor Furlong, Councilman Trowbridge be seated
as Mayor Pro-tem. Motion carried.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Pro-tem
Troy/bridge.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Poxon that the
minutes of the meeting held November 20, 1951 be approved as written
and submitted. Motion carried.
Communication and application for extension of time
by Bethlehem Pacific Coast Steel Company to January 15, 1952 for
the construction and comp~etion of masonry walls under zoning
variance granted by Resolution No. 1535, was read.
It was moved by Poxon, seconded by Anderson that
the request of the Bethlehem Pacific Coast Steel Company be approved,
and extension of time until January 15, 1952 be granted. Motion carried.
Progress Report No. 59 submitted by Lloyd Aldrich,
City Engineer, City of Los Angeles on Hyperion Activated Sludge Plant
for month ending October 31, 1951, was received.
It was moved by JL~derson, seconded by Poxon that
Progress Report No. 59 submitted by the City Engineer for the City
of Los Angeles on the Hyperion Activated Sludge Plant for month ending
October 31, 1951 be referred to the Vernon City Engineer. Motion carried.
Communication from Stuart Oxygen Company requesting
curb painting at 5700 S. Alameda Street, was read.
Communication from Hampton Engineering Company requesting
curb painting at 4615 Hampton Street, was read.
COmIT~nication from Be De L Inc., requesting curb painting
at 5516 Santa Fe Avenue, was read.
Communication from The Silex Company requesting curb paint-
ing at 2009 E. 25th Street, was read.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Poxon that the
communications ar~ requests of Stuart Oxygen Company, Hampton Engineering
Company, Be De L Inc., and The Silex Company be referred to the Police
Department with power to act. Motion carried.
Communication from General Petroleum Corporation requesting
permit to haul refuse from premises of 2525 E. 37th Street and 2423
E. 28th Street, was read.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Poxon that the
request of the General Petroleum Corporation be approved and permit
granted. Motion carried.

Communication and report of F.H. Donnelly, Fire Chief
on maintenance cost of 1941 Plymouth Station-wagon used by Fire
Department for past ten years, was read.
It was moved by Poxon, seconded by Anderson that the
report submitted by Fire Chief Donnelly be received and filed.

at 4514 S. Soto Street, was read.
It was moved by Poxon, seconded by Anderson that the
request of Gar Wood Industries, Inc., be approved and permit granted.

Communication from Carolyn's Candies, Inc., requesting
permit to conduct a retail candy sales business at 4536 District Boulevard,
was read.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Poxon that the
