The meeting was called to order by Mayor R.J. Furlong.
A communication and report of W.B. HOllingworth, City
Engineer on bids received March 4, 1952 for the paving of city hall yard
under Specifications 162, was read. The City Engineer recommended that
the bid of the Los Angeles Paving Company be accepted.

The follo\ving resolution was presented for adoption.
Resolution No. lS85 - a Resolution of the City Council
of the City of Vernon awarding contract to the Los Angeles Paving Company
for the construction of asphalt concrete pavement and appurtenances in
city hall yard in accordance with Specifications 162, was read.
It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Mail11ard that
1585 be approved and adopted. Motion carried.

Communication from W.B. Hollingworth, City Engineer sub-
mitting proposal of A.H. ~axted, Masonry Contractor to furnish necessary
eqUipment, material and labor to make ~sonry repairs to hose tower above
roof line of City Hall as mortar joints have deteriorated to the extent
that they are open -and permit leaks during rainy weather, at a maximum
cost of $975.00 was read.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Poxon that the City
Engineer be authorized to have the necessary repairs made to the hose
tower at a cost not to exceed $975.00. Motion carried.
Communication from Pacific States Supply Company requesting
a permit to conduct a business of manufacturers' representative at 2856
Leonis Boulevard, was read.
It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Mailliard thatbthe
request of Pacific States Supply Company be approved and permit granted.
Motion carried.
Communication from Diversified Metal Products Company request
a permit to conduct business at 5125 Alcoa Avenue, was read.
It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Mailliard that the
request of the Diversified Metal Products Company be ~pproved and permit
granted. Motion carried.

to conduct a transportation business at 4224 District BOulevard, was read.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Poxon that the request
of T-H Truck Rental Company be approved and permit granted. Motion carried.

request or Warner Poultry Company be approved and permit granted.

Communication rrom Krasn Packing Company requesting
permit to slaughter beer, veal and lamb ror wholesale and retail trade
at 3320 E. Vernon Avenue, was read.
It was moved by Poxon, seconded by Anderson that the
request or Krasn Packing Company be approved and permit granted. Motion
carried.
Communication rrom Jack L. Kissel Wholesale Meat Company
requesting permit to conduct a business of boning and rabricating carcass
beer for wholesale and retail trade at 3320 E. Vernon Avenue, was read.
It was moved by Poxon, seconded by Anderson that the
request of Kissel Wholesale Meat Company be approved and permit granted.
Motion carried.
Communication rrom Flynn's Industrial Caterer's request-
ing permit to operate lunch truck within the city, was read.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge that
the request of Flynn's Industrial Caterer's be rererred to the Police
Department. Motion carried.
Communication rrom Fibreboard Products, Inc. requesting
curb painting at 4444 Pacific BOulevard, was read.
Communication rrom Allyn Tank Line requesting curb paint-
ing at 2445 E. 26th Street, was read.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Poxon that the
cOmDlunications rrom Fibreboard Pr04ucts, Inc., and Allyn Tank Line be
rererred to the Police Department with power to act. Motion carried.
Communication rrom Kennedy Name Plate Company requesting
permit to haul reruse rrom premises or ~50l Paciric BOulevard, was read.
It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Mailliard that
the request or Kennedy Name Plate Company be approved and permit issued.
Motion carried.
Report or Carl A. Heinze, Consulting Engineer on operat-
ions of electrical system by the Southern California Edison Company ror
month of January, 1952, was read.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Poxon that the
report or the Consulting Engineer be received and filed. Motion carried.

Communication and report of' Carl A. Heinze, Consulting
Engineer, on partial release and conveyance submitted by Southern Calif'-
ornia Edison Company on March 4, 19,2, was read.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge that
the comnmnication and report of' the Consulting Engineer be received and
f'iled. Motion carried.
Communication and report of Carl A. Heinze, Consulting
Engineer on Franyhise Reports submitted by the. Southern Calif'ornia
Edison Company on f'ranchise ordinances ,03, ,04 and 611 f'or year ending
December 31, 19,1, was read.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge that
the communication and report submitted by the 60nsulting Engineer on
f'ranchise ordinances ,03, ,04 and 611 be received and filed. Motion carried.
Communication f'rom Maryland Casualty Company regarding
Bond No. 6,1706 in behalf' of the Southern California Fdison Company f'ranchise
ordinance No. ,9, in the amount of' $1,000 was read.
It was moved by Poxon, seconded by Anderson that the
communication from the Maryland Casualty Company be ref'erred to the
Consul ting Engineer and City Clerk. Motion carried.
Communication and report of' F.H. Donnelly, Fire Chier,
on application of' O. Hommel Company requesting permit to warehouse ceramic
wares and supplies at 4747 E. 49th Street, was read. The Fire Chief recomm-
ended that a permit be granted.
It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Mailliard that
the request of' the Fire Chief be approved and permit granted to O. Hommel
Company. Motion carried.
Communication and report of' F. H. Donnelly, Fire Chief,
on application of' Vernon Asphalt Materials Company for permit to occupy
premises of 3200 E. Vernon Avenue, was read. The Fire Chief' recommended
that a permit be granted.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Poxon that the
recommendation of' the Fire Chief' be approved and permit granted.. Motion
carried.
An amended vacation list of' the personnel of' the Fire
Department was received.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Poxon that the
amended vacation list of' the Fire Department personnel be approved and f'iled.
Motion carried.
Report of' E. Giles, Police Chief on application of' Meat
Distributors, Inc., for permit to conduct a business agents of'fice at
304, E. Vernon Avenue, was read. Police Chied recommended that a permit
be granted.
It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Mailliard that
the recomnlendation of the Police Chief be approved and permit granted.
Motion carried.
Communication from Supervisor, Herbert C. Legg, extending
an invitation to attend dedication of the County Underground Storage
Facilities at Biscailuz Center, 1600 Eastern Avenue, ThurSday, March 20,
19,2 at 9:30 A.M. was read.

It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge that
the communication rrom Supervisor, Herbert C. Legg be rererred to the
Administrative Assistant. Motion carried.
Communication from State Allocation Board, State Depart-
ment or Finance together with Allocation Board Resolution No. 32 '
revoking an assignment made to. the City or Los Angeles under City or
Vernon resolutions No. 1471 and 1"" was read.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Poxon that the
communication from the State Allocation Board be riled. Motion carried.
Communication rrom Gordon Gray requesting permit to
operate 2 searchlights and park a 20 rt. trailer at curb in connection
with opening or Palley Supply Company, 2263 E. Vernon Avenue on
April Lf.",6, 19,2 and hang 3 street lines across Vernon Avenue, was read.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Poxon that the
request of Gordon Gray be referred to the Police and Fire Departments
with power to act. Motion carried.
Communication from L. D. Overacre regarding the condition
of Fruitland Avenue, was read.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Poxon that the
communication from L. D. Overacre be referred to the City Engineer.
Motion carried.
Report of the Police Department was received.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Poxon that the
report or the Police Department be received and filed. Motion carried.
Report of Vernon Industrial Development Association for
year ending December 31, 19,1, was received.
It was moved by Tro\vbridge, seconded by Mailliard that
the report of the Vernon Industrial Development Association be received
for study. Motion carried.
Communication from W.B. Hollingworth, City Engineer,
requesting authority to employ additional stenoghaphic help for the
typing of specifications and contract work in connection with Street
and Water department improvements at rate of $10..00 per day, was read.
It was moved by Poxon, seconded by Anderson that
the request of the City Engineer be approved. Motion carried.
The City Engineer reported on the installation of
the two 3-way F.M. Radio Communication System installed by the Radio
Corporation or America (RCA Victor Division) and recommended the accept-
ance of the work.
Resolution No. 1~86 -a Resolution of the City Council
of the City of Velinon accepting two 3-way F.M. Radio communication systems
rurnished by the adio Corporation of America (RCA Victor Division)
was read.
