requesting permit to conduct a wholesale distributing business at 2120
E. 37th Street, was read.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge that
the request of the Central Beer Distributing Company be approved and
permit granted. Motion carried.

permit to conduct a rental business of fork-lift and power operated
handling equipment at 2620 Leonis Boulevard, was read.

was read.
It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Foxon that
the request of Higgins Trucks, Inc. be approved and permit grantal.

Communication from Commercial Transfer Company request-
ing permit to conduct a general transfer and pick-up delivery business
at 3216 E. Vernon Avenue, was read.
It was moved by Poxon, seconded by Trowbridge that the
request of the Commercial Transfer Company be approved and permit granted.
Motion carried.

Cowiuulication and report of F.R. Donnelly, Fire Chief
on application of Vernon Parts & Service Company for permit to operate
service station, garage and parts department at 2957 Leonis Boulevard,
was read. Fire Chief recommended that permit be granted.
It was moved by TrovTbridge, seconded by Anderson that
the recommendation of the Fire Chief be approved and permit granted to
the Vernon Parts & Service Company. Notion carried.
Commtmication and report of F.E. Donnelly, Fire Chief
on application of Pacific Fleet Systems, Inc. for permit to conduct a
business of leasing cars and trucks at 2957 Leonis BOulevard, was read.
l~e Fire Chief recommended that a permit be granted.

recpmmendation of the Fire Chief be approved,and permit granted to the
Pacific Fleet Systems, Inc. Motion carried.

Commrmication from F.H. Donnelly, Fire Chief,
requesting autllority to employ Mr. stacy Hrmt as hoseman, Class 3,
effective August 16, 1952, was read.
It vias moved by Anderson, seconded by Trovlbridge
that the request of F.R. Donnelly, Fire Chief be granted. Notion carried.
Copy of Hesolutions from City of Hrmtington Park,
Bell and Compton calling attention of the Department of Public Health
to the acute need for additional hospital beds in this area and request-
ing that it give careful hearing to the request of the St. Francis
Hospital for allocation of Federal frmds appropriated by the Hull-Burton
Act, was read.
It was moved by Poxon, seconded by Anderson that the City
of Vernon join in vlith the request of the St. Francis Hospital. Motion
carried.
Resolution 1617 - A resolution of the City Cormcil
of the City of Vernon calling the attention of the Department of Public
Health to the acute need for additional hospital beds in this area and
requesting that it give careful hearing to the request of the St. Francis
Hospital for allocation of Federal Funds appropriated by the Hill-Burton
Act, was read.

Board No.4 with resolution attached adopting tentative objectives for
prevention and control of water p~llution with respect to disposal of
wastes on land in South Coastal Basin within the Los Angeles region, was
read.
It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Poxon that
the communication from Regional Water Pollution Control Board No. 4
together with resolution be received and filed. Notion carried.
Comnlrmication from Guthrie, Darling & Shattuck together
with Partial Release and Conveyance submitted by the Southern California
Edison Company rmder date of May 31, 1952, was received.
It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Poxon that
the conununication from Guthrie, Darling and Shattuck together with
Partial Release and Conveyance be referred to Mr. Carl A. Heinze, Consult-
ing Engineer. Motion carried.
Commrmication from Neal N. Morris, 6115 Tenth Avenue,
Los Angeles regarding running over manhole vdth loose cover and damaging
automobile tire on East 52nd Street between Santa Fe Avenue and Alameda
Street, was read.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge that

and City Attorney. Motion carried.

Resolution No. 1618 - A resolution of the City Council
of the City of Vernou approving the absorption of any losses arising from
the collection of delinquent taxes growing out of money advanced for the
several bond funds for all years up to and including the fiscal year 1950-51,
was read.

Vernon fixing the amount of money necessary to be raised by taxation

various departments of such municipal corporation for the fiscal year
commencing July 1, 1952, and to pay the bonded or other indebtedness
of said City of Vernon, or any portion or district thereof, was read
for a first reading.
