COUNCIL ABSENT: None
The meeting was called to order by Mayor R. J. Furlong pursuant to a motion
of adjournment on May 18, 1954.
Resolution No. 1754 - A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Vernon
awarding contract to 'Winter Construction Co. Inc., for the construction of Fire Station
No. 2 with tower and appurtenances at 3375 Fruitland Avenue, Vernon, California, was
read.
It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Poxon, that Resolution No. 1754 be
approved and adopted. Motion carried.

Noes: None
Absent: None
Communication from Los Angeles Transit Lines under date of May 20, 1954, in
regard to proposed service changes on "V" rail line and track abandomnents Leonis
Boulevard. and Santa Fe Avenue, was read.
It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Poxon, that communication from Los
Angeles Transit Lines be received. Motion carried.
Ordinance No. 672 - An Ordinance of the City of Vernon consenting to abandon-
ment of street railway tracks and facilities and approving an agreement relating thereto,
was read in full for a first reading.
It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Poxon, that Ordinance No. 672 receive
and pass a first reading. Motion carried.

Noes: None
Absent: None
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Poxon, that Ordinance No. 672 receive
a second reading by title. Motion carried.
Ordinance No. 672 - An Ordinance of the City of Vernon consenting to abandon-
ment of street railway tracks and facilities and approving an agreement relating thereto,
was read for a second reading by title.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Poxon, that Ordinance No. 672 receive
and pass a second reading. Motion carried.
Ordinance No. 673 - An Ordinance of the City of Vernon consenting to a portion
of Downey Road in the City of Vernon being included as a part of the Los Angeles County
Highwq, was read in full for a first reading.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Poxon, that Ordinance No. 673 receive
and pass a first reading. Motion carried.

Noes: None
Absent: None
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Poxon, that Ordinance No. 673 receive
a second reading by title. Motion carried.
Ordinance No. 673 - An Ordinance of the City of Vernon consenting to a portion
of Dowey Road in the City of Vernon being included as apart of the Los Angeles County
Highway, was read for a second reading by title.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Poxon, that Ordinance No. 673 receive
and pass a second reading. Motion carried.

Communication from Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company together with
check in amount of $45,358.24 covering franchise payment under Ordinance No. 108 for
period ending April 22, 1954, was read.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Poxon, that communication from Pacific
Telephone and Telegraph Company together with check in amount of $45,358.24 be received
and filed. Motion carried.
There being no further business to come before the meeting, it was moved by
Poxon, seconded by Trowbridge, that the meeting adjourn. Motion carried.
