Due to the absence of Mayor R. J. Furlong, it was moved by Anderson, seconded
by Poxon, that Councilman Trowbridge be seated as ~or pro tell.. Motion carried.

It was moved by Poxon, seconded by Anderson, that the minutes of Mq- 17 and
Mq 24, 1955 be approved as written and submitted. Motion carried.
Communication from Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors in regard to
collection of combustible rubbish within Cities and the County of Los Angeles after
July 1, 1955, was read.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Poxon, 1;hat communication from Los
Angeles County Board of Supervisors be received and filed. Motion carried.
Comnnmication from .Assemb~ Frank G. Bonelli attaching a cOIlplete digest
of the Legislative Counsel's opinion relative to the legality of a municipality enter-
ing into an agreement for the rental of' city-owned parking meters for their use in
connection wi:th ad;vertising media as a source of city income, was read.
It was moved by l~liard, seconded by Poxon" that communication from Assenib~-
man Frank G. Bonelli be referred to 1;he City Attorney. Motion carried.
, Comnmdcation from Mr. Norf James Jebbia,President of Long Beach Banana
Distributors, Inc., agreeing to install at their own cost an 8 inch sewer line and an
8 inch water line upon the 20 foot easement from the East end of the property line to
.Alameda Stree1; in accordance with the plans and specifications agreeable to the Vernon
City Council; agreeing to grant title to the water and sewer lines to the City of
Vernon, and also grant to Vernon an easement and right to maintain and use said ease-
meni; for pw:poses to maintain these lines; the conpany will post a bond in the amount
of ~15,ooo.oo for faithful performance; the company will immediately request Southem
Pacific Railway to grant to the City of Vernon an easement or other right of ingress
and egress over its narrow strip of real property which lies between the company's
property and Alameda Street, was read.

Resolution No. 1837 - A Resolution of the City CouncU of the City of Vernon
accepting the construction and illstallation of an 8-illch sanita17 sewer and an 8-illch
wrought iron water main in 27th Street westerly extension in Tract No. 1$61 in the
City of Vernon, was read.
