The meeting was called to order by Mayor R. J. Furlong.
CoJlllltlJ1ication from the Vernon Chamber of Commerce tranamitting Resolution
adopted by the Board of Directors on August 9, 1955, requesting the City Council to
include $150,000.00 in the 1955-56 Budget for traffic engineering and constru.ction,
was read.
It was IOOved by Anderson, seconded by Poxon, tb.at tb.e request of the Vernon
Chamber of Gemmerce be approved. &tion carried.
It was moved by Poxon" seconded by Trowbridge, that tentative budget for
the year 1955-56 as submitted by the Administrative Assistant in his communication
of August 15, 1955" be approved. Motion carried.
Ord:iJlance No. 683 - .An Ordinance of tb.e City of Vernon .tixing the amount
of money necessary- to be raised by taxation upon tb.e taxable property liitb.in said
City as a revenue to carry on the various Departments of such Municipal Cozporation
for the fiscal year commencing Ju4r 1, 1955, and to pq the bonded or other indebt-
edness of said City of Vernon, or any portion or district thereof, was read in fall
for a first reading.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Poxon, that Ordinance No. 683
receive and pass a first reading. Motion carried.
