Communioation from Bethlehem Pacific Coast Steel Corporation urging that Ordinance No. 563 regulating the use, storage and sale of liquified petroleum gases in the City of Vernon be lOOdified so that the restrictions are no less severe than other oommunities in this area, was read. It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Trowbridge, that communication from Bethlehem Pacific Coast Steel Corporation be referred to t he Fire Department fora report. Motion carried. Communication from United Tent and Supply Conpany requesting authoritY' on behaJ.f of Norris-Therm.ad.or Corporation to erect a tent on the pa.rldng lot of said. Company at 5235 So. Boyle Avenue on Ootober 23rd and to remove said tent on October 24th, was read. It was moved by Trowbridge, seconded by Maill1ard, that request of United Tent and Supply Company on behalf of Norris-Therm.ad.or CoIporation be approved. Motion carried. Communication from State of Califomia., Department of Public Works, Division of Hig:ilwqs, SIlbmitting in triplicate a memorandum of agreement, for e:xpenditure of gas tax aJ.location for major city streets wi thin the City of Vernon for the 1956 fiscal. year in accordance with the project statem.entsubmitted by the City of Vernon, for execution, was read. 'It was moved by .Anderson, seconded by Poxon, that agreement submitted by State of Califomia, Department of Public Works, Division of Highways, be referred to the City Attorney for drafting of required Resolution. Motion carried. Communication from John B. Moore, Administrative Assistant, in regard to cla.ri.fication of the policy of the City Council relative to the maintenance and repair of OitY'''''Oli11led residences, was read. ~or Furlong appointed & Committee consisting of Councilwoman Anderson, Administrative Assistant Moore and City Engineer Ph:i.ll1ps, to prepare a draft of regulations relative to the maintenance and repair of City-oli11led residences, and present said draft to the City Counci~ for approvaJ.. - 2- 1.59 l.O/18/55 Comnn:mi.cation and report was read. from A.' W.Phillips, Ci'ty Engineer, in regard to unused railroad spur track in rear of the City Hall property, submitting bids received for the rail and fj:ttings in p1aee together with all scrap rail: $24..00 a net ton for raiJ. and fittings. Communication from Berkshire Shops requesting a permit to conduct a busi- ness of m.anuf"acturing.. jobbing and distribution of maple turn:i.ture at 1&405 Fruitland Avenue, was read. Furlong be designated as the representative o:f the City of Vernon to serve on the Board o:f Directors o:f the Los Angeles County Division, League ofCa.li1'omia Cities, and that City Clerk G. A. It was moved by Trotfbridge, seconded by Mailliard, that the report of the Police Department be rece! ved and :filed. Motion oarried. Malburg appeared before the City Council and presented to the Oity a copy of Notice of Election to be held on September 16, '1905 :for the purpose of determining whether the territory in u.,s Angeles County known as Vernon shouJ.d become incorporated as a Municipal Corporation of the Sixth Olass, to be known as the City o:f Vernon.
