MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON
HELD MARCH 25,,1957 AT 10 O'CLOCK A.M.
IN. THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS OF THE CITY
HALL LOCATED AT 4305 SANTA FE AVENUE,
VERNON s CALIFORl.'lIA.

COUNCIL PRESENT: Anderson, Furlong, Mailliard, Malburg, Poxon
COUNC IL ABSENT: None
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Furlong pursuant
to written notice served on March 21, 1957 to all members of the
City Council as per affidavit attached and written consent of all
council members on file in the office of the City Clerk, for the
purpose of considering and taking action on the purchase, or
otherwise acquiring, real property for the City of Vernon in the
vicinity of Santa Fe Avenue and 55th Street in said City.
Mr. W. H. Damn, Jr., of W. H. Daum & Staff, appeared before
the City Council to discuss the abovementioned matter.
General discussion was held with reference to acquiring
Lots 13, 14 & 15 of Martha Tract as per M.B. 14 - P 188 of Maps
Los Angeles County Recorder's Office.
It was moved by Anderson, seconded by Poxon, that the City
offer $1.10 per square foot for Lots 13-14-15 of Martha Tract as per
M.B. 14 - P 188 of Maps Los Angeles County Recorder's Office,
excepting the southerly thirty feet and except the railroad easement
across the northerly nineteen feet. The condition of title subject
to approval of City of Vernon, and the railroad easement subject to
the granting to the City of Vernon of a like easement across Lots
14 to 22 inclusive. Terms - cash on close of escrow.
This offer is withdrawn if not accepted in writing before
close of business March 28, 1957.
Transaction to be handled by a thirty day escrow with
Title Insurance and Trust Co. Motion carried.
There being no further business to come before the
meeting, it was moved by Malburg, seconded by Poxon, that the
meeting adjourn. . Motion carried.
