19690306 Regular City Council Meeting - Minutes I I MINUTES OF AN ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON HELD MARCH 6, 196q AT TEN O'CLOCK A.M. IN THE COUNCIL CH.~MBER OF THE CITY HALL LOCATED AT 4305 SANTA FE AVENUE, VERNON 9 CALIFORNIA. COUNCIL PRESENT: Anderson, Furlong, Mailliard, Malburg, Ybarra COUNCIL ABSENT: None The meeting was called to order by Mayor R. J. Furlong. Communication from C. E. Nemethi, M.D., Health Officer, dated March 4, 1969, requesting authority to attend the California Statewide Conference of Health Officers and Sanitation Directors at Asilomar, Monterey, California, from April 2 to 4, 1969, inclusive, with an expense allowance of $184.75, was read. It was moved by Malburg, seconded by Anderson, that the request of the Health Officer, dated March 4, 1969, be approved and authority granted to issue warrant in the amount of $l84.75 to C. E. Nemethi, M.D. Motion carried. Communication from C. E. Nemetbi, M.D., Health Officer, dated March 4, 1969, requesting authority for Louis S. Hauger to attend the California Statewide Conference of Health Officers and Sanitation Directors and Executive Committee meeting at Asilomar, Monterey, California, from March 3l to April 4, 1969, inclusive, with an expense allowance of $275.25, was read. It was moved by Malburg, seconded by Anderson, that the request of the Health Officer, dated March 4, 1969, be approved and authority granted to issue warrant in tbe amount of $275.25 to Louis S. Hauger. Motion carried. Communication from Ma~~ood Transportation Services requesting a license to conduct a business of bookkeeping services at 4520 Maywood Avenue, was read. It was moved by Mailliard, seconded by Ybarra, that the request of Maywood Transportation Services be referred to the Building Department with power to act. Motion carried. Communication from D. D. Grayson, Traffic Engineer, dated March. 4, 1969, transmitting an application to the Public Utilities Commission for widening The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad crossing at 37th Street (Crossing No. 2H-O.7); and recommending that the application be approved and authority be granted to submit it to the Public Utilities Commission, was read. It was moved by Ybarra, seconded by Anderson, that the recommendation of the Traffic Engineer, dated March 4, 1969, be approved; and that the Mayor and the City Clerk be authorized to execute an application to the Public Utilities Commission of the State of California for widening The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad Crossing at 37th Street. Motion carried. At this time, lO:08 o'clock a.m., Mayor Furlong called the City Council into executive session pursuant to Section 54957 of the Government Code for the purpose of meeting with a certain group of employees and considering personnel problems. All persons, with the I I -2- 3/6/69 exception of the City Clerk, the Superintendent of the Water Depart- ment, the Traffic Engineer, the City Engineer and the representatives of a certain group of employees, were excluded from the executive session. The City Council met in executive session with repre- sentatives of a certain group of employees, and discussed personnel problems. Mayor Furlong ordered that communications to and from the executive session were deemed private. The executive session ended at 10:52 o'clock a.m. There being no further business to come before the meeting, it was moved by Ybarra, seconded by Anderson, that the meeting adjourn. Motion carried.
