19710504 Regular City Council Meeting - Minutes I I MINUTES OF A REGULAR ~mETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON HELD MAY 4, 1971 AT TWO O'CLOCK P.M. IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBER OF THE CITY HALL LOCATED AT 4305 SANTA FE AVENUE, VERNON, CALIFORNIA. COUNCIL PRESENT: Anderson, Furlong, Mai11iard, Malburg, Ybarra COUNCIL ABSENT: None The meeting was called to order by Mayor R. J. Furlong. It was moved by Malburg, seconded by Ybarra, that minutGs of the meeting of April 20, 1971 be approved as ~qritten and submitted. Motion carried. The Clerk announced that this was the time and place fer npeaing bids received for Well No. 17 - Pump and Equipment Instal- lation, in accordance with Contract No. 360. It was moved by Malburg; seconded by Anderson, that the Clerk be instructed to open and read the bids submitted. Motion c,1:rried. The Clerk opened and read the following bids: John E. Higbee, Inc. Roscoe Moss Co. The Clerk announced that this was the time and place for opening bids received for Fruitland Avenue Improvement - Santa Fe Avenue to So to Street; 57th Street Improvement - Alameda Street to Santa Fe Avenue; and Heater Remixing and Resurfacing of certain streets, in accordance with Contract No. 357. It was moved by Malburg, seconded by Ybarra, that copy of Resolution No. 71-060 of the City Council of the City of Carson be received and filed. Motion carried. Copy of Resolution No. 7351 of the City Council of the City of Santa Barbara expressing its strong opposition to the enactment of Senate Bill 333 of the Legislature of the State of California, was presented. It was moved by Mailliard, seconded by Anderson, that "Warrant Register No. 332" be approved and payment authorized for Demands Nos. 1-1103 to 1-1189 (both inclusive), with no exceptions. King, Director of Public Works, dated April 29, 1971, requesting authority for Victor H. Vaits to attend the Public Works Planning and Engineering Workshop in Anaheim, California, on June 7 and 8, 1971, with an expense allowance of $63.00, was presented. It was moved by Ybarra, seconded by Maillia~d, that the request of the Director of Public Works, dated April 29, 1971, be approved and authority granted to issue warrant in the amount of $63.00 to Victor H. Resolut~on No. 4047 - A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Vernon, requesting an allocation of County Aid to Cities Funds for the construction of pavement in the median area on Pacific Boulevard, was presented.
