19760706 Regular City Council Meeting - Minutes I MINUTES OF A REGUlAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON HELD JULY 6, 1976, AT TWO O'CLOCK P.M. IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBER OF THE CITY HALL LOCATED AT 4305 SANTA FE AVENUE, VERNON, CALIFORNIA I COUNCIL PRESENT: Gonzales, Kaeser, Malburg, McCormick, Ybarra COUNCIL ABSENT: None The meeting was called to order by Mayor Leonis C. Malburg. It was moved by Kaeser, seconded by Gonzales, that minutes of the meeting of June 29, 1976, be approved as written and submitted. Motion carried. Communication from Robbins Aviation, Inc., dated June 25, 1976, with reference to "RAF" Respiratory Air Processing Equipment, was presented. (Copy to each member of the City Council) I It was moved by Kaeser, seconded by Gonzales, that communication from Robbins Aviation, Inc., dated June 25, 1976, be received and filed. Motion carried. Communication from F. A. Ziemer, City Clerk-Director of Finance, dated July 1, 1976, with reference to the 78th Annual Conference of the League of California Cities to beheld in San Diego from October 17 to 20, 1976, inclusive,. making certain rec- ommendations therewith, was presented. (Copy to each member of the City Council) I It was moved by Ybarra, seconded by Gonzales, that the recommendations of the City Clerk-Director of Finance with refer- ence to the 78th Annual Conference of the League of California Cities be approved as outlined in his communication dated July 1, 1976. Motion carried. I Communication from Oliver Radio Emergency Monitoring Company, dba OREMCO, dated June 30, 1976, with reference to "Revision of Bid/Proposal Scope - Re: Contract 401 - Communications Equipment for Vernon City Hall and Police Facility", was presented. (Copy to each member of the City Council) Resolution No. 4427 - A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Vernon Accepting the Bid of Oliver Radio Emergency Monitoring Company, dba OREMCO for Furnishing Communications Equipment for the Vernon City Hall and Police Facility in Accord- ance with Contract No. 401 of the City of Vernon, was presented. It was moved by Gonzales, seconded by Ybarra, that Resolution No. 4427 be approved and adopted. Nelson, Jr., Director of Public Works, dated June 30, 1976, requesting authority for James Persons to attend the 1976 District 6 Annual meeting of the Institute of Traffic Engineers at San Diego, from July 18 to 21, 1976, with an expense allowance of $277.20, was presented. It was moved by Kaeser, seconded by Gonzales, that the request of the Director of Public Works, dated June 30, 1976, be approved and authority granted to issue warrant in the amouR: of $277.20 to James Persons. Motion carried. "Warrant Register No. 456" covering claims and demands presented during the period June 16 to 30, which includes Demands Nos. 6-1546 to 6-1642 (both inclusive) drawn on the United California Bank, totaling $153,235.03 (Light and Power Warrants $4,950.37) (Accounting Period June 1976), was examined and audited. It was moved by Ybarra, seconded by Kaeser, that ''Warrant Register No. 456" be approved and payment authorized for Demands Nos. 6-1546 to 6-1642 (both inclusive), with no exceptions. It was moved by Gonzales, seconded by McCormick, that Activity Log of the Police Department be received and filed. Motion carried. n Mr. Robert W. Adams, Manager of the Vernon Chamber of Commerce, introduced Mr. W. L. Hanson, General Manager of the Los Angeles Plant of Bethlehem Steel Corporation, who addressed the City Council informally relative to electrical energy rates. I A general discussion followed with no action taken by the City Council.
