MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL HELD AUGUST 24, 1978, AT
3:00 O'CLOCK, P. M., IN THE COUNCIL
CHAMBER OF THE CITY HALL, LOCATED
AT 4305 SANTA FE AVENUE, VERNON,
CALIFORNIA

COUNCIL PRESENT: Ybarra, McCormick, Malburg
COUNCIL ABSENT: Kaeser, Gonzales

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Malburg.
In accordance with the Notice and Call of a Special Meeting of the
City Council of the City of Vernon, which was delivered and posted as
required, the following actions were taken by the City Council:
Resolution No. 4596 - A Resolution of the City Council of the City
of VernonFindTng;Defermining and Declaring That A Fire Protection Emergency
Exists Within the City of Vernon and Requesting the Office of Emergency
Services to Provide Fire Protection Services Within the City of Vernon, was
presented.
It was moved by McCormick, seconded by Ybarra, that Resolution
No. 4596 be approved and adopted. Motion carried.

It was moved by Ybarra, seconded by McCormick, that Bruce V.
Malkenhorst, City Clerk/Director of Finance be designated and authorized
to employ personnel to staff Fire Department positions. Motion carried.
There being no further business to come before the meeting, it was
moved by McCormick, seconded by Ybarra, that the meeting be adjourned.
Motion carried.

TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON
AND TO THE CITY CLERK:
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT a Special Meeting of the
City Council of the City of Vernon is hereby called to be held Thursday,
August 24, 1978, commencing at 3:00 o'clock, p. m., in the Council
Chamber of the City Hall, located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, Vernon,
California.
Said Special Meeting shall be held for the purpose of:
(1) Adoption and approval of a Resolution of the City Council
of the City of Vernon finding, determining and declaring
that fire protection emergency exists within the City of
Vernon and requesting the Office of Emergency Services
to provide fire protection services within the City of Vernon
(2) Considering the employment of personnel to staff the Fire
Department
