MINUTES OF AN ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING
OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON
HELD SEPTEMBER 22, 1978, AT 4:00 O'CLOCK P. M.
IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBER OF THE CITY HALL,
LOCATED AT 4305 SANTA FE AVENUE, VERNON,
CALIFORNIA

COUNCIL PRESENT: McCormick, Gonzales, Ybarra, Malburg

COUNCIL ABSENT : Kaeser
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Malburg.
The Director of Finance discussed the following five alternatives
facing the City in connection with the current labor dispute, and indicated
that the Staff had not completed its investigation:
1. Enter into a contract with the County of Los Angeles for
fire protection services, or
2. Enter into a contract with the City of Los Angeles for such
protection, and
3. Enter into a contract with a private company offering such
service,
4. Re-employment of former members of the Fire Department, and
I
5. Recruit a new fire department with personnel who are qualified,
from the public sector.
No action was taken at this time. A further report on this subject
was deferred until Wednesday, September 27, 1978, at 4:00 o'clock, p. m.
Atthis time, 4:17 o'clock, p. m., it was moved by Gonzales, seconded
by Ybarra, that the City Council go into executive session in accordance with
Attorney/Client privilege. Motion carried.
All persons, with the exception of the City Clerk and the City Attorney
were excluded from the executive session.
Mayor Malburg ordered that all com munications to and from the
executive session were deemed private.

At this time, 6:31 o'clock, p. m., it was moved by McCormick,
seconded by Gonzales, that the City Council go out of executive session and
r €Burne regular session.

There being no further business to come before the meeting, it was
moved by McCormick, seconded by Ybarra, that the meeting be adjourned to
Wednesday, September 27, 1978, at 4:00 o'clock, p. m., in the Council Chamber
of the City Hall, located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, Vernon, California. Motion
carried.
