19790430 Regular City Council Meeting - Minutes -- MINUTES OF AN ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON. HELD APRIL 30. ...1979. AT FOUR TEN O'CLOCK. P.M. IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBER OF THE CITY HALL LOCATED AT 4305 SANTA FE AVENUE. VERNON CALIFORNIA I MEMBERS PRESENT: Ybarra. Kaeser. Gonzales. McCormick. Malburg MEMBERS ABSENT: None The meetiag was called to order by Mayor Leonis C. Malburg. The Mayor opened the hearing to consider the revocation of recognition of Vernon Fire Fighters. Local 2312. Mr. Richard Shinee of the law firm of Lewis and Marenstein appeared on behalf of the Vernon Fire Fighters. Local 2312 and requested the City Council to re-open the hearing and allow Local 2312 the opportunity to present evidence pertaining to the pro- posed revocation of Local 2312's recognition. At this time. 4:25 o'clock. p.m.. it was moved by Kaeser. seconded by Ybarra. that the City Council go into executive session under the Attorney/Client privilege. MOtion carried. All persons with the exception of the City Administrator ,and the City Attorney were excluded from the executive session. Mayor Malburg ordered that all communications to and from the executive session were deemed private. At this time. 4:35 o'clock. p.m.. it was moved by McCormick. seconded by Gonzales. that the City Council go out of executive session and resume regular session. MOtion carried. I It was moved by Gonza1Jes. seconded by Ybarra that the hearing to consider the M.E.R.R.'s recommendation to revoke the recogni- tion of Vernon Fire Fighters' Local 2312 be re-opened for the purpose of allowing the said Local 2312 an opportunity to present evidence. Motion carried. The City of Vernon was represented by David B. Brearley. City Attorney. Vernon Fire Fighters Local 2312 was represented by Richard Shinee. of the law firm of Lewis and Marenstein. Rosemary S. Treher was present as a Certified Shorthand Reporter to record the proceedings verbatim. for reduction to a transcript. At this time. 6:39 o'clock. p.m.. it was moved by Kaeser. seconded by McCormick. that the City Council go out of executive session and resume regular session. Podlas, a Local Safety Member Employed by the City of Vernon (Sec. 21024 and 21025 of the Government Code) was presented. It was moved by McCormick, seconded by Gonzales, that Resolution No. 4043 be approved and adopted. Motion carried. AYES: McCormick, Gonzales, Kaeser, Ybarra, Malburg NOES: None Absent: None Resolution No. 4042 - A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Vernon Determining the Disability of Ronald A. Hoffman, A Local Safety Member Employed by the City of Vernon (Sec. 21024 and 21025 of the Government Code), was presented. It was moved by McCormick, seconded by Ybarra, that Resolution No. 4042 be approved and adopted. MOtion carried.
