19800813 Regular City Council Meeting - Minutes MINUTES OF AN ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL, HELD AUGUST 13, 1980, AT 4:30 P.M., IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBER OF THE CITY HALL, LOCATED AT 4305 SANTA FE AVENUE, VERNON, CALIFORNIA MEMBERS PRESENT: MEMBERS ABSENT: Kaeser, McCormick, Ybarra Gonzales, Malburg The meeting was called to order by Mayor pro tem Ybarra. David B. Brearley, City Attorney, addressed the City Council regarding Ordinance No. 905. I ORDINANCE NO. 905 - An Ordinance of the City Council of the City of Vernon Amending Section 2 of Ordinance No. 895 as Amended by Ordinance No. 898 Providing for Rates to be Charged for Electrical Energy Distributed and Supplied by Said City Within its Boundaries and Repealing all Ordinances and Parts of Ordinances in Conflict Therewith. (lst. Reading) It was moved by Kaeser, seconded by McCormick, that Ordinance No. 905 receive and pass a first reading. Motion carried. AYES: Kaeser, McCormi ck, Ybarra NOES: None ABSENT: Gonzales, Ybarra Communication from Bruce V. Malkenhorst, City Administrator, dated August 11, 1980, recommending approval of Acting Chief Espinoza's request to hire Richard M. Atkinson, III, as a Police Department Station Cadet, Step 5, to become effective August 11, 1980. It was moved by McCormick, seconded by Kaeser, that the City Administrator's recommendation be approved. Motion carried. Communication from Bruce V. Malkenhorst, City Administrator, dated August 13, 1980, recommending approval of Acting Chief Espinoza's request to hire Rudolph Schaap, Jr., as a Police Department Station Cadet, Step 5, to become effective September 1, 1980. It was moved by Kaeser, seconded by McCormick that the City Administrator's recommendation be approved. Motion carried. Communication from Bruce V. Malkenhorst, City Administrator, dated August 13, 1980, recommending approval of Acting Chief Espinoza's request to accept the resignation of Police Department Station Cadet Raymond Price, to become effective at the close of business August 15, 1980. It was moved by McCormick, seconded by Kaeser, that the City Administrator's recommendation be approved. Motion carried. I Communication from Bruce V. Malkenhorst, City Administrator, dated August 13, 1980, recommending Bid #1161 be awarded to Tom Gamble & Sons in the amount of $6,495.00 for replacement of heating and air conditioning system at Fire Station No.2. It was moved by Kaeser, seconded by McCormick, that the City Administrator's recommendation be approved. Motion carried. Communication from Bruce V. Malkenhorst, City Administrator, dated August 12, 1980, transmitting communication submitted by Richards, Watson, Dreyfuss & Gersh?n, dated August 11, 1980, confirming the terms of their em- p 1 oyment ur,1tha',cal;;ef,ofReavis, et a 1 v. Kaeser, Los Angeles Superi or Court No. C 327733, and recommending consideration of said terms. It was moved by McCormick, seconded by Ybarra, that the communication from Richards, Watson, Dreyfuss & Gershon, containing terms of employment be received and filed. Motion carried.
