19960829 Regular City Council Meeting - Minutes I I MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON HELD AUGUST 29, 1996 AT 4:30 P.M. IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS OF THE CITY HALL LOCATED AT 4305 SANTA FE AVENUE, VERNON, CALIFORNIA MEMBERS PRESENT: Malburg, Ybarra, Davis, Gonzales, McCormick MEMBERS ABSENT: None The meeting was called to order by Mayor Malburg. 1) Consideration and discussion to adopt a resolution to terminate the Joint Powers Agreement creating the Southeast East Cities Transportation authority. RESOLUTION NO. 6845 - A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Vernon terminating the Joint Powers Agreement Creating the Southeast Cities Transportation Authority, was presented. It was moved by Davis, seconded by Ybarra, that Resolution No. 6845 be approved and adopted. Motion carried. 2) Consideration & discussion authorizing the execu- tion of a Joint Powers Agreement creating the "New Southeast Cities Transportation Authority". RESOLUTION NO. 6846 - A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Vernon authorizing the Execution of a Joint Powers Agreement Creating the "New Southeast Cities Transportation Authority," approving the membership of the City in such authority, appointing the City's representative and alternate to the Authority's Board of Directors and related matters, was presented. It was moved by Gonzales, seconded by Ybarra, that Resolution No. 6846 be approved and adopted. Motion carried. 3) Consideration and Discussion to terminate the "Agreement to Form Association and to Conduct Litigation" effec- tive as of January 30, 1995. RESOLUTION NO. 6847 - A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Vernon Authorizing the Termination of the Agreement to Form Association and to Conduct Litigation. It was moved by McCormick, seconded by Davis, to defer the aforementioned matter to the next City Council Meeting. Motion carried. 4) Consideration and Discussion to adopt a Resolution to approve a revised and/or alternate offer of settlement in the Litigation entitled City of South Gate. et al. v. City of Los Anqeles. et al.. LASC No. BC129447, Court of Appeal No. 2nd CIV No. B100019 RESOLUTION NO. 6843 - A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Vernon Repealing Resolution No. 6842 and Approving an Alternate Offer of Settlement with Modifications in the Litigation Entitled City of South Gate. et al. vs. City of Los Anqeles. et al., LASC No. BC 129447, Court of Appeal No. 2ND CIV No. B100019, was presented. It was moved by Ybarra, seconded by Davis, that Resolution No. 6843 be approved and adopted.
