20090520 Regular City Council Meeting - MinutesMINUTES OF THE SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF THE CITY OF VERNON HELD WEDNESDAY, MAY 20, 2009, AT 9:08 A.M. IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS OF THE CITY HALL LOCATED AT 4305 SANTA FE AVENUE, VERNON, CALIFORNIA MEMBERS PRESENT: Gonzales, McCormick, Malburg, Davis MEMBERS ABSENT: Maisano The meeting was called to order by Mayor Gonzales. There were no changes to the agenda. Special Counsel Eric Fresch announced to the audience that this was the time for public comments. Mayor Gonzales asked if there was anyone in the audience who wished to address the City Council at this time. There was no one in the audience who wished to address the City Council at this time. Special Counsel Eric Fresch announced that now was the time to begin the 2009-2010 budget review for the following departments: The Director of Community Services & Water sought direction on the following before presenting the proposed budgets for his departments: • The overnight parking of trailers on Fruitland Avenue and his recommendation of placing parking hour restrictions on said street. All four council members in attendance concurred to the posting of parking hours restriction signs. • The complaint received from tenants on Furlong Avenue regarding parking issues and his recommendation of sending a letter clarifying the parking rules and regulations of the city. All four council members in attendance concurred to the issuance of a letter from the Director of Community Services for parking clarification purposes to the city -owned housing tenants. • Sought authorization to issue a support letter regarding SB346, contamination in Storm Water, and the intent of the bill to reduce the weight of copper in brake pads. All four council members in attendance concurred and authorized the Director of Community Services to issue the letter in support of SB346. The Director of Community Services & Water presented the above 2009-2010 departmental budgets to the City Council. Special City Council Meeting Minutes May 20, 2009 1. Recycled Water The City Treasurer handed out a sample of a departmental budget with new column headings. All four council members present concurred that the final budget will reflect only the approved budget. There being no further business to come before the City Council at this time, it was moved by McCormick, seconded by Davis, that the meeting be adjourned, the time being 11:28 a.m. Motion carried.
