20110526 Regular City Council Meeting - MinutesMINUTES OF THE SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL - LIGHT & POWER MEETING OF THE CITY OF VERNON HELD MAY 26, 2011, IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS OF THE CITY HALL LOCATED AT 4305 SANTA FE AVENUE, VERNON, CALIFORNIA MEMBERS PRESENT: Gonzales, McCormick, Davis, Maisano, Newmire MEMBERS ABSENT: None The meeting was called to order at 8:00 a.m. by Mayor Gonzales. The City Clerk announced that there were no changes to the agenda. The City Clerk announced that this was the time allotted for public comment. The Mayor inquired whether anyone in the audience wished to address the City Council. No one responded. CONSENT CALENDAR: It was moved by Davis and seconded by Maisano, that the matters on the Consent Calendar be approved as recommended. Motion carried, 5-0. 1. Approval of Professional Service Agreement with Lepiscopo & Morrow, LLP and authorization for the City Administrator, or his designee, to make modifications to the agreement, and take whatever actions are deemed necessary for the purpose of implementing and carrying out the terms thereof. 2. Approval of Engagement Letter with DLA Piper, LLP in connection with the purchase and sale of property located at 3200 Fruitland Avenue, and authorization for the City Administrator, or his designee, to make modifications to the engagement letter, and take whatever actions are deemed necessary for the purpose of implementing and carrying out the terms thereof. 3. Approval of Engagement Letter with DLA Piper, LLP in connection with the purchase and sale of property located at 5611 District Boulevard and 4855 E. 52nd Street, and authorization for the City Administrator, or his designee, to make modifications to the engagement letter, and take whatever actions are deemed necessary for the purpose of implementing and carrying out the terms thereof. ORAL REPORTS Abraham Alemu, Electric Resource Planning & Development Manager, reported that on May 23, 2011, around 3:OO p.m. there was a power outage. Alemu advised that over 100 customers were affected. The outage lasted for 30 minutes. Alemu reported that the cause of the outage is being investigated and will report back later.
